Monkey Gum - Yalwal PART 4 L300 vans going DOWN

This epic trip is well known to be fairly hard. We just had to try it out.
And it certainly proved to be challenging for our little group:
Two Mitsubishi L300 4WD vans with diff locks,
the mighty Iveco EarthCruiser weighing (weighing 5.5 t with 300 l of water and 300 l diesel)
and
a Toyota Landcruiser with road tyres, which is stock standard apart from the alloy bull bar.
The driver of the Landcruiser stayed cheerful all the way while having her first day of offroading.
So far there has been no dramas, all cars made it up without breaking anything. Since both 'Cruisers had to head home in time, the vans decided to do the whole of Monkey Gum Track from Braidwood Rd back North to Yalwal Rd.

hi martin, what year model is the l300? was it a body swap? if so what year is the chassis and body? I just joined for interest sake

dphothisane It's been built in 1996, on the road since 1997. No body swap, they came 4x4. To make a 2wd van into a 4wd would be near impossible I think as the front of the chassis are very different.

Graham Mott The other van runs a limited slip diff in the rear, open diff at front. Quite amazing you can drive this van on just driving skills. I 'cheated' with a rear diff lock and a welded front diff 😀
