I like the way that your style lets the shoulder go forward whiich is how it is done in boxing. Karate for some reason doesn't want the shoulder or hip to move forward but so much.

love your new sun wukong intro XD seems like the concept of taiji is pretty applicable to virtually any art. just realised most chinese martial arts are fairly recent... wonder why martial arts became popular in the late Qing. but yeah, taiji mantis, really cool style, would love to have another lesson sometime after I get everything sorted haha

I agree you can apply taichi theories and training to any other martial art. It will fill in any holes you could find in your practice through the internal awareness it brings. Once I learned taichi all the hard martial arts I beat my body up with before suddenly made so much more sense.

Hi. I've been living in China training it in Shandong province for the past decade. The Taiji Mantis you practice I'm assuming is from Chu Chuk Kai, via Hong Kong or Vietnam... which is quite different from the Taiji Mantis practiced in Shandong. My information comes from my own teacher, other teachers I have visited, and various manuscripts and written records which date from mid-19th to early 20th centuries. I have translated a few bits and pieces on my website which you can find in the video description, but its a bit disjointed and hasn't been updated in a while
