At 18:00 the attack does not draw a card because the Pack Leader checks for power as you declare the attack while the Class triggers after attackers are declared. It's the same principle as flickering something with Yorion: any "beginning of end step" ability will not trigger because they were not there at the beginning of the end step
@LM-rs1co3 жыл бұрын
Based on my experience in reaching this season's mythic rank i'd like to share 2 critics: the only relevant removal spells that target are vanishing verse and blizzard brawl, making 4 copies of snakeskin veil definitely too many (i played 0, but 1-2 might be ok). Manlands can have an impact on long games, but 8 are too many: having a good curve is very important and having a lot of (potentially) tap lands and non-green sources can slow you down. The deck has access to many mana sinks/recursion (the wolf ability, ranger class, the troll ability, the kickable fighting spells, lessons...), which makes animatable lands less important in the lategame than, for example, in a regular standard monored deck. Keep up the good videos ^^

The pack werewolf only triggers if the 6 power is there when attackers are declared. It doesn't go on the stack, then check. It checks if it even goes on the stack at all first.
@Uncle_Troy3 жыл бұрын
I really do feel like the rule should be that the +1/+1 counter would go on top of the stack so that the Wolf can get that 6th power unit it needs a turn earlier. There's so many sub-sets of rules that allow for similar synergy with so many other builds, I feel like that little nuance should be tinkered so that this situation is in Mono Green's favour.
@danielmorton75773 жыл бұрын
@@Uncle_Troy It would have to read, "Whenever CARD NAME attacks, draw a card. If the total attacking creatures power is 5 or less, do not draw a card instead." That would put a trigger on the stack no matter what, then replace itself. It's really clunky, and it's why they don't do it that way.
@perlundgren77973 жыл бұрын
@@danielmorton7577 Couldn't it just say "draw a card, unless you attacked with creatures with total power of 5 or less"? Doesn't seem much clunkier than the original text to me.

I've got something similar with 2 additional cards I find interesting : for 2GG a 4/4 master symetrist gives trample to most of the deck's creatures and for 1G arachnoform is an enchantment that gives +2/+2 reach and creature becomes every creature type (so, it's a giant too)

@toof9873 жыл бұрын
i would think wildshape is a better choice than snakeskin veil. it just gives you so much utility. hexproof, trample, and reach.
@petertheamateur-mtgarenade20043 жыл бұрын
It depends. Snakeskin Veil does leave a +1/+1 counter that can benefit from the Swarm Shambler's ability in addition to permanently boosting your creature. Wild Shape's trample ability isn't always useful as well, as some bodies have better basic stats than 3/3. So yeah, both are good in their own way.
@pst53453 жыл бұрын
As soon as we get bo3 queue Wildshape is an instant swap from Veil imho, since the current black control decks exploit not having to fear trample with their eye twitches and shambling ghasts. Otherwise Veil is a good default. I think CGBs list is how I wanted my deck to look vs bloody snow control after sideboarding. A bit sad is that Vorinclex is so expensive. His counter nerf is a very powerful off switch for Lolth.

So, I found the same conclusion to be true (about mammoth and about other random stuff), but only in the version of the deck that plays the 1 drops, which after playing a ridiculous amount with the deck are seriously the weakest parts by far. I've tried a few different configurations to try and mitigate that. First I tried cutting the shamblers, but you really can't do that with sentinels in the deck without slotting in another 1 drop...and there just aren't any other good 1 drops. Or at least not good enough 1 drops. The next thing I tried was some lotus cobras to back up the sentinels. That worked better than the shamblers overall, but now sentinels were too often not doing anything worthwhile. I then tried 2 innkeepers to back up the cobras and...holy cow innkeeper was better than cobra, better than sentinel, better than any 1 drop. Innkeeper (and cobra if it sticks around) still give you the upside play of a 4 drop on t3 that sentinel does, still lets you play on curve with your lands and hold up hexproof, and has the added benefit of dynamically changing how races go for the mirror, for mono W, for mono R. Or they use a whole card to trade for its body, which is the less useful part of the card in most matchups. I've also found that this specifically lets you run a couple Froghemoth in the deck, which has been clutch against the blood money decks, or any other random blood on the snow deck.
@tahlialysse3 жыл бұрын
This also actually makes mammoths a lot better in the list, since you don't mind a tapped land on t1 ever, and with the acceleration of innkeeper and/or cobra, you often aren't too unhappy with it as a 4th or 5th land, with the upside of sometimes being another random body. Definitely the weakest card on rate for the deck, but as a halfway version of a manland, I've been happy with it in this version. Also, since you are dropping the reach of sentinel, which was seriously the biggest upside, I've found that Varis actually fits pretty well as a 2 of to shore up the curve slightly. The upside of venturing is usually minimal, but vs anyone slower than you, going into Tomb of Annihilation can be a nice way to push a bit more damage *or* tax their cards, and with things like ranger class and werewolf to push you ahead on cards, I've seriously just gone over the top of control decks. More damage, better board, and more resources. Vs anyone where it's close, some random scry, goblin bodies, counters, or drain ekes out some small edges that sometimes matter and sometimes don't. Not to mention that if you ever manage to get a counter or two on Varis (I know, how could that possibly happen in this deck), he is really good at not just blocking, but killing dragons, and his ward 1 means that a single treasure from a goldspan attack isn't enough to dragon's fire him to stop the block. I've just found he lines up really well with the format, despite only being a medium card in a more objective sense. And this is more minor, but I've also found 4 brawl, 4 scales, 1 mark to be about 1 too many noncreatures in the deck. Personally I've liked 4 brawl, 3 scales, 1 mark, but that's gonna be a small edge based on how someone values different matchups.
