It’s funny how you said that one OP reminds you of Madoka Magica because this series and madoka magica were animated by the same studio

Its a very artsy series as you said. To give you a short description: Its a character driven and dialogue heavy series which focuses on mostly psychological problems which are represented as supernatural beings that afflict the main characters and solving their problems usually means dealing with these supernatural beings and also saving yourself from your own mental problems. Each opening is sung by the VA of the respective main character of the arc thats currently ongoing and definitely contains a ton of symbolism which isnt always easy to decipher. Honestly i would call the Monogatari Series the pinnacle of anime. The character writing is absolutely amazing, this series has some of the best written dialogue and all of it is presented in a very unique and artsy syle heavy on symbolism. Its definitely a series one has to go into with the intention of analysing the content. Release order is fine, i would recommend watching the Kizumonogatari movie trilogy after Bakemonogatari though since the movies were delayed a lot because of production issues. Crunchyroll is fine but it doesnt have all the episodes. For example for some stupid reason Crunchyroll is missing episodes 13,14 and 15 of Bakemonogatari, the entire finale of the first season.

Hi! Great video, though I'd say there's slight problem to hear you talking along with openings' sound. So I would humbly suggest adding subtitles. Other than that, its a cool video, thank you!

Watching the release order is correct. Chronological is a fool's errand and the mystery that comes from not always knowing what will happen nor what happened is pretty cool. Specially in the first season.

Well I'd reccomend the novel release order though and not the tv one (Don't know which you're referring to though). Cause like Kizumonogatari, for example, is the second novel but was only adapted like 8 years after Bakemonogatari due to delays in production.

@@bmxgu2361 Doesn't really matter. The adaptations still were designed with the release-order in mind and thus are the 'intentioned' way the story is presented. You could make an argument that who ever made the adaptations didn't understand their craft and so the result doesn't make sense if viewed that way - but I would object that Shaft's Monogatari actually suffers from that type op issue. There even are some additional scenes and hints in the anime to make missing context making more sense that isn't there in the novels (which are technically installing a different 'readorder' of the overall story) - so the anime adaptation itself already takes care about potential issues coming from a different chronology. So, I'm 100% with the OP here - trying to watch them in 'chronological' order or based on the LNs is just a stupid thing to do. There are a few shows you could make that point for - often adaptations done by different studios over the years - but this is not such. UNLESS who ever watches it is a complete brainlet unable to understand a story not told chronologically - but I would argue that Monogatari is not meant for such, and for a whole list of different reasons. :D
