I have this subwoofer and love everything about it. My room is about 5 times the size as yours and it produces a ton of bass -3 db at 12hz with 1 plug installed in my room. I think in that size room it's massive overkill but I'm sure it's a good problem to have.

I'm running 4 car subs in my surround sound. Two 15s and two 10s. I'm debating to get rid of the 10s and get this Monolith. I get crazy bass from the car subs however I don't know what it feels to have 15hz in my system. Obviously my car subs cannot get near those low frequencies that the Monolith can hit...and I'm getting more and more curious to be able to feel those low frequencies.
@MATechYoutube Жыл бұрын
I always preferred the way 15” subs sounded even when I was into ICE. Despite running 4 x 15” subs in my audio setups incar the sub sonic frequencies just hit different, you feel them rather than heat them and in movies especially there’s instances where you can sense something is going to happen by the way it pressurises the room (and that’s with just one 15” sub! Car audio subs aren’t really designed to hit this low so it will be quite an shock when you first experience these even if you’ve been into 130/140+db car setups. There’s really nothing else for the money that gives as much bang for buck as the 15”.

Hey. Can you, or someone on here, tell me the input voltage for this EU/UK version of the amp? Is it 220v or 110v - 220v?

It’ll be 220-240, UK doesn’t drop to 110 and having spoken to Monoprice about the replacement amp plates the UK models are different for this reason and can’t be sent out on their own.

I’m torn!! I have a Klipsch SPL 150 and am looking to get a second sub, I’m wondering if I should just get another 150 or get this bad boy, any experience with the 150? Which do you think is better?
@MATechYoutube2 жыл бұрын
If you already have a Klipsch then I’d probably say matching up would be an easier step for you however I can’t speak highly enough of the Monolith considering the price to output level. I personally was looking to add a second 15” to my setup to take it to 7.2.4 but in no rush for now.
@acunae90942 жыл бұрын
@@MATechKZbin I know, I would like to have it Klipsch all the way around, I already do for the most part, but the Monolith 15 is on sale right now for about the same price as the SPL 150 (I’d jump on it right now if I were you) also what are you thoughts, the 150 has an “LFE” option as the monolith doesn’t, is it more of a pain to have to adjust the crossover settings for the monolith? I don’t really have much experience doing so.
@MATechYoutube2 жыл бұрын
The Monolith has thx mode and is a certified thx subwoofer so it results in incredibly clean bass at refence levels. I leave the sub on thx and then do all the adjustments via my Marantz as opposed to on the sub itself.

Awesome video! I’m on the fence on ordering a 15” V2 or a 13”. What do you think is the better sub? My room is open to the kitchen with a total of 3500 cubic feet. Planning to add a second one down the line. Thanks!
@MATechYoutube2 жыл бұрын
The 13” has around twice the power but the sound signature of a 15” or larger is different. I personally prefer the sound of larger subs but the 13” & 16” subs are absolute beasts from what I’ve seen and read.
@TheBarbapapa12342 жыл бұрын
@@MATechKZbin I’ve read that the actual size of the 13” monolith is 15” due to monoprice not taking the surround of the driver in to account. So the 13” is actually 15” and the 16” is actually an 18”z could you measure the driver to see what the actual size of that 15” is? Thanks in advance
@MATechYoutube2 жыл бұрын
My 15” measures around 13 3/4” for the foam and 15” to the edge of the surround on the face (including the face with the screws) so measurements will be slightly different depending on the thickness of the foam anyway. The 13” and 16” in particular were produced to compete with the SVS subs and other flagship subs and likewise the power output is also much greater hence the higher premiums as they have twice the rms output from their amps as well. Either way you’re getting sub 10hz in room performance and I can speak from personal experience that even a single one is quite substantial but if you can balance a room out with 2 or more (further down the line) then you won’t be disappointed. I’ve spoken to quite a few people about the monoliths and the one thing everyone says is the performance blows them away.

I would take the 13 over the 15

The ported sub gives you more options, when setting the Monolith up if you do it in thx mode it’ll give you around 12db (in my maramatz anyway) that you can boost the bass as well as being able to further increase the gain manually as well. Since setting mine up with my SR8015 I’m super impressed by its performance , deep right and tactile bass that kicks hard without being too boomy even with 1 port open.

The 15” is V2, the 13” and 16” are completely different beasts and thus are capable of handling much higher power levels. The 13” and 16” are made to compete with the likes of the SVS pb16

I'm confused by you calling your space a home theater and it's smaller than an average room. What what is the size of this space?
@MATechYoutube2 жыл бұрын
Since when has the size of a room decided whether it’s a home theatre or not? For me it’s a home theatre when it has audio/visuals or both that make you want to watch content for the sake of watching to experience it in that space. My room is around 5m x 3m x 3m for context, and I’ve seen many a “home theatre” setup in spaces smaller than mine.
@Methadras2 жыл бұрын
@@MATechKZbin There is no definition of what a home theater size constitutes it being called a home theater. It could be a closet for all I know. However, there should be some modicum of a definition of a space that can account for what you are presenting as a 15" 1k watt powered sub in a space that is 5m x 3m^2 as a review for a fair representation of the acoustic prowess of a sub that big in a room that small. I mean, would your review be a fair one acoustically of a sub of that size? You even admit in your video that you can't capture the sound it produces and put it in the video. Is that really a fair review?
@MATechYoutube2 жыл бұрын
Fair to what extent? Measurements will differ from room to room anyway so all that’s left is personal opinion and I can share that regardless of the size of the room. I have been doing a lot of diy around my house this week and had the door removed which meant the sound was travelling all around the hallway and upstairs rooms which makes the space much much bigger and it was still able to pressurise the space and that’s what matter when it comes to the kick you want from content. I also think you’re missing the point as my whole home theatre series is for those who want to make use of spaces they already have and maximise what they have rather than force people into a minimum spec as you seem to be suggesting of minimum sizes and shapes of the room. As for the sub Monoprice have their specs listed on the website itself in controlled spaces and most people who’ve used REW fine they kick lower and harder when in “home theatre” environments so if anything they’ve been conservative with their readings so yes I do believe the sub has the prowess I’m suggesting. I have some shorts videos on my channel that may show how hard this kicks a little better as for the unboxing I didn’t dare turn it higher as it was shaking everything on my house.
