Hiking from Stavronikita Monastery to the Monastery of Iviron at Agio Oros.
The monastic community of Mount Athos is an Eastern Orthodox community of monks in Greece who holds the status of an autonomous region with its own sovereignty within Greece and the European Union.
In modern Greek, the community is referred to as Agio Oros translating to 'Holy Mountain', while Mount Athos is used to denote the physical mountain and Athos Peninsula.
