A lot of the time, yes. But when we were in cantonment at NTC, we were so bored, we played marathon sessions of Monopoly that were extremely cut throat and had all sorts of house rules. It was super vicious but the only time in my life I can recall playing monopoly and enjoying it.

we simply made the game easier to playand have a designated winner: we played a 6 to 12 laps around the board game and whoever had the most money won the game after the final lap. property value quantities were used as tiebreakers.

One of the last times I played Monopoly, a friend of mine had "Death Row." ie, he owned every property on the most expensive row and had house on each one. If you didn't land on the middle space of either the train/whatever else it could be, you were essentially CLEANED OUT from all of your money. It was insane. And we were all like, 12. Idk how he was even able to do that 😅

chess (or checkers) cheaters edition would be interesting!! or maybe shogi just because the rules leave room for more cheating?? maybe like: -drop a piece your opponent took -promote a piece outside of the promotion zone -move (piece name) the wrong amount of spaces or in the wrong way -use a pawn or a piece with too low of a rank to capture another piece -move multiple pieces per turn -move a piece during your opponents turn -move your opponents piece or for chess or checkers you could do some of those same ideas, along with checkers using the wrong color spaces (don't you only use one color of the board in checkers?) idk i could think of a bunch more but the concept of making cheaters editions of games is really cool
