Hellraiser getting back Fable is kind of interesting. Since it’s a token, when it exiles itself for the third chapter, it can’t return (and even if it didn’t exile itself, tokens can’t transform anyway.)

I'm not sure what I'm missing but I don't see why the Fable Hellraiser brings back would be a token? Hellraiser just says "exile then cast".

@♢ The Dream Arena Worse "him" is grammatically wrong in this case. Since the hellraiser isn't a rational subject, the proper grammatical gender is neuter and the pronoun in this case would be "it".

I like the use of of the self sac lands! I missed that when I made my izzet deck version. I prefer Bitter Reunion over Thrill of Possibility because I think the possibility to give haste can be really strong. You can use it to copy the Hellraiser immediately after Fable flips and works well into planeswalkers and more controlling strategies.

I made a modified version of this, focused on bringing back explosive singularity while running the new Chandra to cast double or solphim, mayhem dominus. I didn't have enough wild cards to build it perfectly but it's a bunch of fun. I also found volt charge great with the new chandra

I made a Hellraiser deck but it's like 5 color self mill. Also has Arclight Phoenix as an alternative win condition. It's janky but its fun. I was hoping to mill big silly spells and Hellraiser would randomly cast one of them

Feels good when LVD says "We don't have any haste creature we can draw so let's attack first" and you know he could have crucible for lethal. And then he draws crucible post-combat Doesn't change the outcome that much but I felt smart for a second

so i put this together .,. trusting lvd .,. without actually watching the full vid.. ranked best of 1 just to test.. went against 4 color atraxia / reanimate deck.. i made some modifications.. i added 2 chandra dropped 2 rebel ... added 2 cathartic pyre (only have 3 portals and 3 dragons as i didnt want to fill it out with limited wildcards).. .. game: ultimated chandra .. while never missing a land drop.. 2 fables, into opp cast 6 drop angel.. i portal'd .. getting angel he discards atraxia and chaotics his angel (under my control) giving me dragon,..which mills a portal .. getting back portal .. he scoops .. super sick game.

In the last game, if LVD really wanted to wipe the board, wouldn't Brotherhood's End and then in response use Reflection ability on the Hellraiser be a better option?

I am a newb, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I advocate for playing decks that _you_ like to play. This deck is certainly strong enough to get Ws in the ranked queue My personal take is that the sweepers and burn alone position it pretty well since soldiers, tokens, and poison decks with either Rotpriest or go-wide strategies are popular in the meta. Add to that a pretty powerful end game and lots of big flyers and I think you should be able to have fun and be competitive. The fact that the Salvo answers Mondrak and Sheoldred is interesting too

Do you think Hellraiser has future on Archlight Phoenix decks?

Probably not. The archetype is totally different. Hellraiser is meant for reanimator strategies. Most of the game-winning hits from Hellraiser (portal, sagas) are considered too slow for Izzet Phoenix to play, Arclight decks don't want clunky expensive cards just to keep as discard fodder. The most expensive non-creature card in Izzet Phoenix is Expressive Iteration (2 mana). Even Fable is considered too slow.
