Seeing this clean-up is terrific - it also brings to mind all the many many sunken and/or submerged boats in the Bahamas - now THAT'S a clean-up job!! would cost millions but how cool to have that beauty restored.

Great video - I'm happy to see Monroe County take action and initiate this clean-up. I know there are many derelict vessels throughout other areas of Florida. I hope more clean-ups such as this are ongoing or planned.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?

I quess my question is that like an abandoned vehicle on the road. You tag it. Wait a day or two. Then a contractor will tow it away. If it is damaged or otherwise incapable of being salvaged, you document it and destroy it appropriately. Otherwise attempt to contact owners and then sell it if you can. I don't see all the problems. If your salvage operator knows how to deal with environmental issues, then Bob is your uncle. I am sure that the state could realistically let a contract and make it happen in any waters under various authorities. It cannot be that difficult to identify and report this to a state licensed salvage operator. Give them the appropriate documentation and let them do their job.

First of all boats are not cars and it's not always easy to find to own the boat once they dispose of it how they choose you know there is no license you pay insurance but you don't go take a license there's no boat motor vehicles that's why there's no easy way to do this

Part of me wonders if any of these wrecks become part of the seabed, forming like a artificial reef and then suddenly removing it removes a bunch of fishes homes

The idea of a user tax Florida claims on vessels bought in another state could be a good reason to be responsible for clean up.
@donnakawana2 жыл бұрын
That's not how these vessels got there... These weren't responsible boat owners they came from Cuba. Did you pay attention??? Curious
@briandale83862 жыл бұрын
@@donnakawana any vessel from a another state after 90 day is subject to water usage tax . Even if they are just cruising . Even if I payed 3 percent in another state, Florida would expect another 3 percent . That is 6 percent of the value of the boat up to 16 thousand bucks .if not payed then it may become the Property Florida . If they claim such a absurd tax on water usage after I payed sales taxes in another state at that states rate,then they want more for usage of their water then they are responsible for their water and what comes of water usage . . It was negligent of the state or county to wait that long to clean it up after receiving and imposing such taxes on out of state cruisers
