That bass! Man what a beast of a sound. This must be what inspired the 90s jungle scene.

This machine could be used as a laser cannon sound effect in a sci fi movie. I love your channel and your wonderful voice.

The later IQ-213 added a mechanism for transferring the multiplier from the accumulator into the multiplier register with a single button. It also has keyboard memory and a function to multiply from the keyboard memory.

That's amazing! It sounds very much similar to the Facit CA2-16. ...I'll take two! 😁

Wow 😮 basicaly bringing mechanics to mathematical calculation is more impressive to me than electronical digital computer technology

I think this machine is featured in Monroe’s book of Civil Engineering “figuring,” early 1960s. They didn’t calculate, they figured.

This calculator is crazy you gotta do calculations TO DO CALCULATIONS!

Funnily enough, out of all the mechanical ones I own, this is the one with the least of that. This is a fixed-point machine. You set it up how you'd like and it does the rest for you. The other ones have all-manual decimal placement.

This design looks superior to the Friden STW 10. How does it compare?
@1stSpyGuy2 ай бұрын
I would argue it's superior because of some main features: * The Monroe has multiplication back transfer, something that Friden would not have until the (quite rare) SBT-10 * The Monroe has the option for automatic rounding of decimal points, which the Friden does not * Additionally, the Monroe could do automatic decimal point alignment (as seen when shifting the carriage for additions, for example), while the STW-10 could "only" select the decimal point precision you want for division All of this comes in a slightly smaller and lighter package overall. Bonus feature is the sound - the Friden is shamelessly loud, whereas the Monroe works with a quite pleasant hum. I always wanted do do a proper video about the Friden machines, but unfortunately I believe none of my STW-10s or my SBT-10 are in full working condition. :(
