We local didn't call Barapani..Water in Khasi mean Um and iam mean cry.we call Umiam not Barapani.there is history of the Umiam lake that why called Umiam.

Actually some of the local guides do call it Barapani that is why it was mentioned in the video. Also the lake is also called Barapani but yes we didn't know about the origin of the word "Umiam". Thank You so much for clarifying the confusion. 🙏
