Yippee-Ki-Yay! Saddle up, because we're riding out into the ol' West to build a traveling show called "T-Nu's Wild West Buffalo Show!"
I am teaming up with the channel 'Boylei Hobby Time' to create a building for his Imaginary Old West town. This is a collaboration that I have been wanting to do for a long time because I am such a fan of Boylei's work.
In this video we're gonna' sculpt a gigantic Thunder Bird (well... as gigantic as 1:72 scale will allow), a formidable Battle Wagon, a Buffalo for tiny T-Nu to ride, and a Snake Oil Wagon for my Daddy as he helps to separate the townsfolk from their hard earned cash.
If this sounds good to you partner then... Let's get our craft on!
BOYLEI'S VIDEO: • My Western Town | Buil...
Special thanks to Adam Bartley for the Show Banner and excellent illustrations and Magwire Art for the Circus Banners!

Hi there! I came here from Boylei's channel from his perspective of this awesome collab. Being an artist myself, who can no longer do art due to crippling arthritis, I enjoy watching videos of people doing what I lived for. I have to say that while seeing someone design something digitally and then 3d print it is fascinating to me, sculpting by hand will always have a special place in my heart. So glad you did this collab so I could find you and subscribe. Thank you for keeping art alive.

Thank you so much!! I'm sorry to hear about your hands. That is a tough one. I am fascinated by the idea of 3D printing and I even have a few concepts where I could use it creatively. However, for the most part I prefer to build things by hand or to watch other artist create things from scratch. I guess it's just a preference thing. Thanks again for watching!!

Thanks so much, Geordie! 1:72 scale is SMALL (s it odd to emphasize the word "small" in ALL CAPS?)... Anyway, I bought myself a pair of those bug-eyed looking magnification goggles specifically for this project. It made a world of difference, once those were on and I was feeling sufficiently ridiculous, I just needed to constantly repeat to myself "Butterfly kisses, butterfly kisses." Sometimes crafting isn't pretty! : )

@@CajunCraftastrophe No problem! Here's a true story that may amuse you: I'm 62 now, but when I was nine years old, I was at the local Target store in 1969 armed with a whole dollar and some change, and looking for a model kit to build. In those days, the toy section at Target devoted an entire aisle to model kits of all kinds, and I had a lot to chose from; especially with so much money to work with. As I was looking, an "old man" (about my current age) was also browsing the model kits. He commented to me that when he was my age, model building was very different: There were no injection molded plastic kits, and everything had to be carved from wood with plans and templates. Flash forward about fifty years, and I was that man's age in a hobby shop where a 3D Printer was being demonstrated. A couple of kids about ten were also watching, and I couldn't resist commenting to them that in MY day, model building was VERY different . . . . I'm glad that there are young people like you and Boylei to keep the hobby alive and vibrant. Keep up the good work!
@CajunCraftastrophe
@CajunCraftastrophe Жыл бұрын
@@modelermark172 Thanks Mark (I'm assuming it's Mark). That is fascinating, and a fun story. Pretty much the only thing that I want to use 3D printing for would be to create some action play-sets based off of some silly concepts that I have. They would have about 8 to 10 action figures each. If I tried to carve the figures out of wax and then make molds of each limb, torso, and head it would take me probably about a year. However, with 3D printing I think that I could create one of these play-sets in a month. With a project like that I think that 3D printing is a perfect fit because the project is more about the fun concept than the actual build... I guess it also helps knowing that I COULD carve and mold the figures in the first place if I needed to. There are a couple of other situations where I can see the potential use, like background elements for stop motion sets. 3D prints would be a huge time saver, and there's never enough time in film, but for the vast majority of things I feel like if I have a crafting channel then I should actually build things instead of printing them. Plus I LOVE building things. Thanks!!
@modelermark172
@modelermark172 Жыл бұрын
@@CajunCraftastrophe It is Mark. And if memory serves, that "old man" I met said that he was looking for kits for "parts," such as clear canopies, wheels and propellers to detail his traditionally hand-carved models. (He was using plans originally designed for WW2 "Spotter Models.") Currently, the only 3D Printed parts I got were a couple of "Tesla Crate Motors" for customizing model cars. But I ordered those online. I don't have a 3D Printer (heck, I don't even have a Dremel Tool!) I don't know much about CAD design or coding, so it would be a useless fifty pound paper weight on my workbench. Again, thanks for doing your part to see that model building - be it hand-carving, or 3D Printing - doesn't become a "lost art."

I watched the other half of this build at Boylei's place awhile back and was so glad this showed up today on the sidebar to remind me to have a look at your half of the build. This was really fascinating... and Daddy was entertaining, as usual. I'd order some of that snake oil but I think I'm allergic. Pretty sure, even.

This was a true collaboration. You build; he paints. You bring the bird; he brings the tent. I love it! Top notch video. Your sculpting has always been good but it's getting better, especially considering the teeny tiny scale. I like Brambles with her Franken-horse legs. This is my favorite moment of the video 08:37. Smash. BTW, I finally ordered some Cosclay. AND I used to be from Paris, Texas!

Wow, did you ever see a Thunderbird in Paris, Texas?? There were a couple of eggs in the nest that were too heavy to move. I've always wondered what happened to those. You're gonna love Cosclay. It's stickier than Sculpey, but sooooooooo much better (IMO). Use some Corn Starch if it's too sticky. Thanks for watching, Racheal!
