I personally wouldn't even want to catch a critically endangered species such as the Goliath but glad these are being released. Amazing that they can live up to 100 years old (obviously a greater chance without human interference). Have you noticed the numbers increasing from your experience?

fish are built for pressure. the onyl thing that fuks up some fishes are the ones that use air bladders for depth changes. IE they use an air bladder to float or sink. if you bring em up quick, their airbladder expands, but it doesnt kill them most times. some smaller fish dont recouperate, but many times, you can use a fish returning mechanism that will drop the fish down to a deeper depth to release them since htey would be stuck floating at the surface
