one thing i personally think is great rep is an explicitly autistic character being written to have a love interest! autistic people are often infantilized and seen as children who can’t handle romance so seeing twyla so open to the concept was such a breath of fresh air :)

I’ve wanted a more positive role model for kids other than Julia from Sesame Street. Every other show that is either aimed at kids or are kid friendly never really portray autism as being a negative thing to deal with and that kids with it aren’t “normal” and that they are always the weird and annoying outcasts that no one wants to be around. The media is always so ableist towards autism and it bothers me how it is always wrong to say ableist comments towards any disability and people will rip you apart and scold you for it unless it’s towards autism? It’s just so messed up.

@@kenthuang436Some other characters who are autistic in PBS KIDS shows are AJ from Hero Elementary, Dennis from Dinosaur Train, Carl from Arthur, and Ben from Xavier Riddle and The Secret Museum (he's only in 1 episode though, with a small cameo in another). Plus, PBS KIDS is making a show called "Carl the Collector" where everyone in the main cast is on the spectrum. I think they're all positively represented, but I think AJ is kinda the "best" represented. He's shown to stim when nervous, wears noise cancelling headphones at times, has sensory issues as he hates being wet, doesn't really understand jokes or social cues, and his special interest is super heroes (and they had one episode dedicated to this special interest and his autism).

Hilariously for the witchcraft allegory it seems queerness is universally accepted in the Monster world, (no one, not even the antagonists, misgender Frankie or say anything homophobic) so it could literally be like: Draculaura: Dad, I’m gay. Cleo's bag of jarred organs reminds me somewhat of bags I've seen for diabetes equipment & medication which says "this is my pancreas" on it

It's interesting, but I'm somewhat iffy on some of the organs he listed in this video. Traditionally, the heart was the only organ that wasn't removed, because it was considered part of the soul. Also, I'm not sure why you would remove someone's inner ear, or how given the technology of the time. Of course, I'm a nerd who cares about details like that, and this isn't actually important to the show.
@drosellie2850
@drosellie2850 9 ай бұрын
While the heart thing is probably just a cultural inaccuracy, I read a headcanon that the heart being removed was a tactic to keep the mummy as a... well, mummy, instead of going to the afterlife. I'm not too caught up on g3's lore, but at least for g1 it would make sense that Cleo's evil uncle would want her and her family to have their hearts removed, cursing them to remain in the mortal world as mummies and not move on to the afterlife.

As a latina (mexican) , i got so annoyed at people calling Lagoona a spicy latina, because she isnt s3xualized in any way and her issues are treated with respect and seriousness, and on behalf of the fandom it felt kinda xenophobic ngl, let latin women, femmes and girls have big emotions ffs! Don't police our feelings and don't treat us like tropes when we have them, i saw that coming from a lot of gringos and non latines. Most of the LatAm community really loves her, even her launch song that got panned by English speakers was super appreciated by latin fans, its a catchy bop! I went from not caring about Lagoona in G1 to her being in the top 3 of my favorite characters in G3! I really resonate with her and I truly feel represented by her.

I haven’t seen the new show, ummmm yet but personally it’s not that I don’t like the new Lagoona but- why is she pink? Her last name is Blue- Soooooooooo But yea I like her new personality it a lot more flushed out compared to her old version ^^ But well- I kind of don’t like the fashion choices. I think it might be the new style tho- Another thing that I think is waste potential is that in GEN one it’s hinted on the back of Claudine‘s box that she is lesbian either that or maybe aroace plus I don’t mean to be rude, but kind of miss the old Cleo. The only reason of why is that although I do respect the new generation of Monster High, it’s just that well I’m not a very big fan of some of the changes since I was there from like the beginning, but it’s not like I wouldn’t want to change out the new body types some of the new changes that they did. It’s more like how they changed some of the characters. I don’t like how they did that some of the characters got definitely some new flushed out personalities that feel like they might’ve fit them better, but then others are just waste potential just like how in this video they mentioned Gouluy (I’m sorry that I’m spelling this wrong Idk how to spell it :’] ) like they might have like a speaking disorder or a speaking disability and it’s just a lot of some of the new personalities it just I don’t like how some of it doesn’t match up with the originals but I just know that it happens sometimes But you are a die heart fan for the new show I’m not gonna say “STOP WATCHING THE SHOW ITS TASH” no I might be a harsh critic sometimes, but I’m not gonna try and stop you watching something that you like unless it has something truly bad about it. Unless you like the Percy Jackson movies and no I DO NOT MEAN THE NEW SHOW I mean the movies that literally just decided to spit on the books and Greek mythology :] ??????? UMMMMMMMMMMMMM ARSON

yeah, also, i feel that many people miss the point with the issue of the spicy latina trope, the issue is not having a latin woman with strong emotions and personality, that is allright, the problem with the trope is that usually it's used with a sexual presentation and the character is writen to be and object of desire from american (usually white) man, something that happens with almost every ethnicity in many american media (black women, latin women, asian women, etc). Even if lagoona were a background character her traits are not inherently a problem.

Something else cool about Twyla: most of the time when characters are autistic, even when it's explicit, they're not the ones to say that. It's always a caregiver or a relative or something outing them - see "When Carl Met George" (Arthur), Julia's introductory episode in Sesame Street, etc. The conversation is always "handled" by someone else, especially in children's media, aligning with the assumptions that we can't understand/articulate our own needs, navigate a conversation about boundaries, or control who does and doesn't know personal information about us. Her taking a deep breath and starting the conversation herself, because she needs to do so to make her needs clear but knows that this could get awkward/difficult/ableist quickly, reminds me of a dozen similar conversations I've had over the years.

5:00 : Latino here. Granted, i am not from Honduras per se, but in the context of Latino culture as more or less a whole? Anger issues are a super prevalent thing, specially in both the context of ''Latino father only is allowed to feel Anger as it is the only MAnLY emotion and represses everything else'', or the ''Latina mother has anger issues - was only taught to shut up about her complaints, grow up and take care of the household - won't tell what you did wrong and brushes her anger off in a passive aggressive manner until she explodes and starts yelling about nothing and everything at the same time'' which eventually poisons the whole family bit by bit as the children get dragged down into the generational anger spiral (that and the bonkers stupid gender expectations placed onto the kids tends to fester a very hostile family environment, with the expectation to just suck it up until it becomes too much to bear, which generates the anger issues - which are taught by our caretakers, we are not born with them - as we are literally not taught to process any negative emotion in any healthy manner). Of course, these are not the only types of Latino anger issues or toxic family dynamics, but just what i have witnessed myself or by my friends. It would be a bad thing if the show only showed Laguna as a ''HahA LOOk!! LAtINA iS CRAzY and ANGrY!!!'' which they don't. Laguna is learning to deal with it, and it is addressed with actual respect instead of being the butt of the joke (albeit, yes, some humor is drawn from it, it is in a more light hearted way as this is a kid's show, and i do not mind that). In fact, i do think that we do need more shows addressing anger issues and how your family situation - in the context of anger or poorly addressing of emotions - doesn't define you, that you are *allowed* to be angry and process those emotions in a healthy way. I needed that as a kid, and hell, i need it now as well. I really like it.

As someone who married into a Mexican-American family, I can say that while there wasn't any violent anger-issues (honestly my father-in-law seemed like a really nice, mellow guy), there was deeefintiely some nasty grudges being held between the aunts and uncles, etc and oh boy, 'masculinity' being important definitely was a thing (espc. to my now ex-husband, at the time). I eventually noticed I always initiated the hand-holding and so I was curious and asked and to his credit he admitted to being embarrassed since it felt 'emasculating' to be the one to make the move... and to his credit he made efforts to try to initiate after that. He also insisted my engagement and wedding rings be expensive, otherwise he might be seen as a poor (therefore unmanly) partner even though _I_ would have been happy with a cheap semi-precious gem and a stainless-steel wedding band and we WERE broke... But he was also badly bullied in high-school by other guys who were likely even more toxically masculine... Neither of us really had good coping mechanisms or understood our individual traumas well at the time, sadly.. so it was hard to work on these issues. I wanted to continue being friends after the separation but that wasn't good enough and so eventually he did start to resent me and decided I'd used him *sigh* I haven't really been in contact for over a decade but I've heard he's been making a lot of emotional growth through therapy, so I'm really happy to hear that.

That's what I'm banking on. I love and adore Twyla. Not a slight to her character, but the writing. But, when one of the main characters seems so coded to be autistic, but only a side character is canonically autistic, it feels a bit cheap. Even though Monster High is doing such a good job with diversity, it happens quite often with kids shows that it just stings in a preexisting burn wound. With other shows, it feels like they want the diversity but don't want to commit to representation. And Frankie seeming like autistic rep but not being canonical while a side character is canonical reminds me of that. Like I said though, Monster High actually seems to be doing a great job at diversity. I hope the team behind it hears what the fans are saying and has Frankie find out that they are also autistic.

I actually like the concept of Twyla being actually diagnosed but Frankie coded, because it helps the parallel of autistic person that is diagnosed as a kid and grew up knowing that vs autistic person that learn it later in life (teenhood or adulthood). Frankie being diagnosed midway the series would be awesome. Altho, i see that as something difficult to happen, but with an awesome potential. I have never seen the process of being diagnosed in a show, so, thats why i think it wont happen, but if it happen, it could go in many great ways, becase they could introduce a therapist or a psych mayor as a character and had an episode of Frankie going to them and getting diagnosed. I do feel/fear tho, that maybe they did create Frankie as a autistic character but realized that having a character being non binary, physical dissabled and having a queer relationship at the same time as being autistic would put too many attention in one character, each character has to have something that differenciate them from the rest, and the current theme with Twyla is her autism, so having Frankie as a mayor character also being autistic could rest some of the agency and relevance of Twyla down, specially having the contrast of the autism traits in each one, Twyla could be perceive as a more stereotipical token version. Leaving Frankie coded let both characters exist and being relatable to autistic people while also letting the writers use Twyle for more focus on that one identity trait, and have more flavour of characters to make episodes focused on that topic

The thing I think you’re missing with ghoulia is the CLEAR ADHD coding. This is made clear by her being smart but thinking about things quickly and not exactly thinking she is fast. A LOT of my adhd was my time dilation where i would spend too much time on one detail and take LONGER to do things then others. It doesn’t mean I’m slow but it means that to me the world is moving SUPER FAST! an hour is a minute to her sorta deal… the point I’m making is that in quite a few scenes it takes her a moment to understand where everyone is at and especially when she tries to move fast on her skateboard to pick up the pace because she FEELS so slow that happens too! We often over correct and start start to think we are talking faster then everyone else but in reality we are talking normally and moving at a normal pace. ADHD is also hereditary and might explain why zombies believe they move slower. And that is simply because they don’t understand time dilation. You can hear this a few times when ghoulia even mentions the time as a question like “did I sleep that long?” Or “it’s really been that long?” Classic time dilation. This could also simply be dissociative disorder where sometimes she zones out. Hence why they are hesitant to label some of the characters because the symptoms expressed are connected to a plethora of disorders that nonverbal language barrier doesn’t exactly cover. They went more subtle… rather the overt with certain things to hit a different audience because as someone who has nonverbal days i can say it’s next to IMPOSSIBLE to communicate and if they want to do it right they want someone who has to use an outside tool not just a second language… and we have characters coming up that don’t talk at all! We even have mythologys that talk about some creatures who’s voices are like duces eyes. Just simply dangerous.

I used to get so burnt out back then because I masked nonstop. I wasn’t diagnosed, and I’m still not, so I always just thought something was wrong with me. I picked at my clothes and earrings. Twyla makes me so happy. She’s everything comforting. She would be my favourite if I could watch this show when I was younger. I just know 7 year old me would love her colours and powers. Still love her powers. I love how Twyla was direct and explicit when she explained it. No “oh I’m just so shy and sensitive, not autistic”. No beating around the bush. No “I’m autistic, let me tell you the definition”. That’s stupid. Just “I’m autistic and loud noises bother me, please don’t do that”. She really hit home for me.

Maybe they could fix Ghoulia if they made being a zombie sort of like a physical disability which gets worse over time. They start out human and gradually become more zombie-like. So, right now she and the other Zombies don’t seem very zombie-ish but they could gradually have more and more physical challenges, including some impacting their speech, which would be really interesting and challenging to see her go through. Obviously she’d still be the same mentally but without the physical abilities she maybe took for granted before? Or maybe she didn’t take them for granted at all and just made the most of them, knowing she wouldn’t have them forever. Idk maybe that’s stupid. But it bothers me that they changed her so much.

My favorite thing about Twyla's autism is that she doesn't "get over" any of her symptoms. She doesn't start to like loud noises, or like eye contact with "the right people". Which is so important to me. I still get angry sometimes about how many autistic and autsitic-coded character "get over" their touch aversion by hugging a friend, or start to try new foods because they "get adventurous". I loved G1 Twyla, and I'm so glad they gave her what she deserved in Gen 3.

People who complain a whole lot about "woke" cartoons really don't understand why these kind of shows are important. They show diverse kids, espically kids in places where they get bullied for their diverse traits, that their not only valid for having these traits, their just as human as more standard kids. And they also show standard kids how diverse kids are just as human as they are. So yeah, good shit.

For the Zombies, even if they didn't want to care about going the whole way with them again, they could at least show that they fatigue easily. As someone who had fatigued easily(was a medical issue, been fixed) it could be interesting to have them use things like the Skateboards because while they can keep up with the other monsters... it's only in bursts. Like, before the surgery I genuinely could keep up with people... but then crash upon arrival at a place I could sit. It'd be cool to see them show that not all disabilities are visible and some can be very easily hidden/invisible until you know the signs.

I find it really interesting that Lagoona gets anger issues after being rebooted as latina. I’m not offended or anything as a latino either. I think it’s good to have a childs character with anger issues, who is self aware and working on improving herself. Also, as someone who is nonbinary and femme-passing, I looove Frankie as representation. And for them to be dating Cleo, it feels out of left field, but it’s nice to have two main characters in a queer (platonic?) relationship. (idk if it’s canon yet, but it’s pretty queer) Edit: they also could’ve Ghoulia a speech impediment. Yes, she can speak english, whatever (zombie being it’s own language was cooler tho), but giving her a speech impediment would bounce at least a little off her original counterpart. Also also, I love the relationship between Cleo and Nefera now. There’s sibling envy but still genuinely loving each other is significantly better than a 19 year old woman harassing her 15 year old sister and her friends

Cleo's organ jar bag is also a great way to tie more into her mythological origins as an Egyptian mummy. Mummies were buried with jars of each organ, since they would rot if kept in the body when it was embalmed and mummified. If a mummy was buried without an organ, or the organ was stolen or damaged, it was believed that wouldn't be able to use it in the afterlife, similarly to how Cleo can't use an organ if it isn't close to her. I love how much more expilicitly Egyptian Cleo is in G3, and it isn't just "an aesthetic" anymore.

Monster High was my favorite series growing up. Watched all the episodes and all of the movies. I didn’t know WHY I clicked with this and not Barbie or Bratz (which I did like but didn’t have that feeling of connection). IG it was because I was bullied for being different? Not conventionally pretty or very smart (not in the way that mattered in school). Preferred books to people because books didn’t run away from you when you tried to join them. Absolutely dreaded school. Family life was…I wouldn’t say abusive. But there was a lot going on and television was the one escape since there wasn’t much to do in my town. Monster High was the first show that ever made me feel…seen. That being different wasn’t bad. That eventually I would find my people (which I did when I got internet access). Was it a perfect show? No. But it made an 11 year old girl feel better about herself.

I believe I remember Cleo in the episode with the inner ear saying something along the lines of “Most mummies have some of the organs jarred for safe-keeping, I jarred *ALL* of mine” and personally I think this can be read as different approaches in treatment of medical issues. For example, my Dad has crippling pain for reasons I’m not gonna go into (I know this is anonymous, but that still feels rude), and he has been offered the idea of surgeries that could potentially alleviate it his pain, but it is likely to hinder his mobility in the future. My dad had chosen pain over mobility issues, and that’s valid. We could read Cleo as the opposite reading- choosing the surgery at the cost of everyday function, as this practice of jarring organs apparently provides some sort of undisclosed safety for mummies, which means it ties to long-term health. Cleo chose the more extreme procedure, Nefera has had a smaller procedure. Either way you look at it includes risk, but either way it’s a valid path to choose.

I think Finnegan uses a motorized wheelchair because that's easier to animate. With a manual wheelchair they would have to animate his arms moving the wheels in the right speed to match with the speed he's moving, also turning would be hard to animate and have look realistic, because the speeds and sometimes even directions are different in both wheels. Also he wouldn't have a free arm all the time, so that would limit the amount of actions the character could do. That's a kid show about a very famous franchise, so they probably are pushed to produce very fast without diminishing the quality, so it makes sense they would choose the more pratical option for that.

Not great, but it's at least an explanation 🤷‍♀️

I haven't watched the series yet but oh wow, I relate to Twyla. hanging out in the library all day because it's mostly empty and quiet? I used to do that every chance I had in high school! every lunch period and whenever I finished my work early I would sit in there, reading, eating lunch, doing homework, drawing, or just on my phone, it was such a nice peaceful break from how chaotic school is. I definitely have to watch this show, I love all the representation

5:00: Idk know if my opinion will be well received but its been bothering me since i heard G3 was announced. I am half Honduran and italian American, and I have always been a fan of G1 Monster High. I know there are some people who aren't crazy about the movie freaky fusion. But i remember when it came out it only made me love Monster High even more. Growing up in a multicultural family i never knew where i belonged i wasnt latin enough on my fathers side and i wasn't American enough on my mothers side but seeing characters that came from diverse families gave me hope. When i heard monster high was coming back, i was extremely excited until they announced that Laguna was gonna have to go through some changes. I never cared much for her but until my friends told me that they made her be from Honduras i thought "well as long as they don't do the spicy hot headed latina route and actually incorporate some of the culture of honduras we will be fine". Boy did i speak to soon. My friend had bought me the doll and i was grateful, but i felt like this wasn't a well thought out idea. For most of my life and even now i often see myself more represented in Skeleta and some other monster high Characters then i did with Laguna. Don't get me wrong i liked lagunas character but i just wish Monster high took the time to actually learn about my culture. Honduras has a lot of of folk lore that stem from European, African, Creole, and even Mayan folk lore that i grew up hearing as a kid. I always wanted monster high to make a doll that represented the stories i grew up with its kinda of why i started learning how to draw and do character designs. I mean there are so many stories like Cadejo which i loved listening to as a kid and La Sucia. I honestly would be interested in seeing in the Monster high universe if not that then i would love to see a characters that has Selective Mutism since surprise surprise i also have that as well and i know some people debate that Ghoulia has it but having a character similar to Twyla where the show actually states she has autism would be nice to see. Sorry for the long rant this topic has been bothering for a long time and i needed it off of my chest.

It's been interesting to watch the discussion of Ghoulia's changes in this gen and made me evaluate her again myself. While G1 is cited often as making the zombies non verbal I did see people point out that instead it might more accurately state them as ESL because zombie itself *is* a language, they all could communicate and by that token they weren't non verbal. As well as people taking this idea further and pondering if labeling them as non verbal because we personally couldn't understand them was potentially ablest or culturally insensitive. All of that I am not sure on but it's had me rethinking her for sure.

I miss Ghoulia's posture. The rambling way she moved, the way she lolled her head around, her untraditional smile, they way she blinked one eye at a time. The way her mouth hung open, the way her glasses slid down her face and she wouldn't fix them. Becuase I do all of that. I have always done all of that. And my young little autistic gayboy self loved to see someone who did all of those "ugly" things and still always wore bright red lipstick, that cherry print, and the cuntiest glittery eyeshadow you've ever seen. She's just as glamorous, smart, girly, and complex as every other character, and I'm so sad that kids aren't going to get that with the G3 version.

as a type 1 diabetic i’d never made the link between cleo’s organs and disability but now that you’ve pointed it out… it’s exactly like when i leave my pdm (device that controls my insulin pump) too far away - if it’s out of range, it doesn’t properly communicate with my insulin pump and my blood sugar goes too high/low, which is analogous to cleo being dizzy when she loses her inner ear. also i’m not sure if the mummy wraps are explained in g3 but i know there are a lot of headcanons that if cleo or nefera remove the wraps, their skin crumbles - a perfect analogy for lots of skin conditions like eczema or icthyosis. i love how everyone is so chill with disability in MH both in g1 and g3 and nobody makes comments about cleo’s bag of organs or treats it as an inconvenience

Latino here! I was also worried that Lagoona was the stereotypical "spicy Latina", I don't really like that one because she puts Latinos in a box of exoticism. Mental and emotional problems are not always taken seriously in many Latin American countries and it is worse when people turn poor management of emotions into a "quirk". But with Lagoona I'm really happy with how they handled her issues and didn't portray her as normal or even quirk.

I completely agree with this video, and I do wish that Ghoulia was kept as non verbal. As you previously said, they could have solved it by making her being voiced by a nonverbal or partially nonverbal actress. I admitedly feel more lenient with the 'monsters vs humans' angle purely because it does seem an attempt of ahaha funny dark humour, but it is tastless regardless, hopefully it will be less present in the future. Also am I the only one or I get huge 'Patakis' from Hey Arnold! vibes from Cleo's family now? (A more digestible example as imo her parents do love both their daugthers but one's clearly the favourite)

Going to the non traditional mobility aid point, I have an original character named Willow… fairy lynx hybrid (picture a bipedal lynx with fairy wings and humanoid hands instead of paws - though her feet are paws) and because she has a torn wing she ether rides around on her griffin husband Winston’s back, or uses a skydiving wing suit to adapt to the fact that she can’t fly 🧚

This might be wishful thinking, but I'd love to see a character with a TBI/Traumatic Brain Injury. Someone really close to me recently had a TBI and it has changed her, but even though she's different, she's still the same and still amazing, if that makes sense. I think Monster High would handle it with a lot of grace and represent TBIs to a wider audience in a way that isn't fear mongering or demeaning.

I actually really like the frankie being autistic headcanon especially bc of their contrast with twyla, last year i was in a class with 2 autistic kids, one of them now benig one of my best friends, frankie and Twyla remind me a lot of them making me realize that frankie also being autistic would be such a good form of representation, one of my friends is a really extroverted (and sometimes naive) guy who would always be talking and interacting with everybody, loved to meet new people and experience new things, he always happy to be in the center of attention and had problems with volume control much like Frankie, and the other one is a quiet introverted trans girl with a lot of problems with socializing and talking to people, a lot of anxiety, and very uncomfortable with changes, she's also very sensitive to noise reminding me of Twyla, and even though they're very different they still understand each other and are good friends (both of them have adhd too) Out of context but i love Twila's character so much, as a kid with heavy social anxiety, who gets really uncomfortable in crowded places, can't communicate properly with people, tends to be really quiet when im not with someone really close to me, has a favorite bracelet that i'm always constantly messing with and wears noise cancelling earbuds whenever i'm out bc of sensory issues she's the kind of representation i wish i had when i was younger, but i'm glad younger kids are getting now

Also, I can't figure out how Clawdeen keeps her glasses on when she goes full werewolf, since her ears are on the top of her head. Are they attached to a band around her head or something? It's such a small detail and probably doesn't matter at all, but it bothers me enough that I've made custom-made glasses for all the species in my invented universe, since none of them have human-shaped ears. Well, I guess the elves and orcs technically do.

Yeah, if Ghoulia didn’t have any brain related patterns on her, I would have no idea she was supposed to be a zombie (I also really wish she looked more undead with sunken in cheekbones or exposed bones rather than just using that atrocious radioactive mint green they gave for her skin tone)

I would add that I feel The Case of the Missing Squeak, which features the essence of life and shows its contrast with zombie essence, does add a bit of perspective on Frankie as a person. I liked seeing how the essence of life seems to inherently make the creatures it brings to life excitable, high-paced, and over-flowing with energy in a way I could only describe as hyperactive. It was at that episode that I went hey, wait, Frankie also seems to fit the bill for ADHD. Easily distracted, sometimes struggling to focus and sometimes hyperfocused on a specific project (to the point where they spent all of Spell the Beans finding the gorgon talisman while Draculaura was struggling with witchcraft accusations and threat of expulsion), and of course at times hyperactive. I just thought that was a neat addition to the ways in which they also clearly align with autism, since autism and ADHD often present together

So, i personally think that what happened to him was worse than Ghoulia because he was a canonically disabled character that was meant to be cool and empowering, and also to break some stereotypes about disabled people, but he was turned into an abled bodied creature who needs to use a mobility aid because of his non - human features...

As a doll collector with High-Functioning Autism (I collect mainly Shadow High, Rainbow High, and Monster High Gens 1 and 3 dolls), Twyla is definitely my favorite MH Gen 3 character. I was absolutely amazed at how her Autism is portrayed so beautifully, and her doll is absolutely goregeous. I love the details of her having sensitive hearing, being petite and looking and sounding young for her age, having a bracelet that she fidgets with, her special interest in books and reading, and especially her getting a boyfriend in the show!🖤💜

something that i've been hoping that they wind up doing for ghoulia moving forward is that they make zombie-ism a quietly progressive disability, like in the background we see her getting progressively slower, maybe winding up using a cane, and slowly loosing her speaking ability and maybe using her tech to speak for her eventually

as someone who doesn't know if they're autistic or not (I'm trying to figure out with my therapist and i cant really go to a psychiatrist bc i dont have the money for it) it's a little odd seeing autistic people being portrayed so openly - not in a bad way tho. i think its so great to see this generation getting informed about things we didnt really get in ours. but as i said i dont really know if i am in fact autistic, and although i feel so represented by twyla i feel kinda sad at the same time bc she is so free and true to herself, and even that i feel the same stuff as her i never got the chance to act on it... so i end up in this situation where i keep thinking to myself things like "if i was in fact autistic maybe i would always act on those feelings" in the end i dont know if im just having imposter syndrome or if i am autistic but cant figure it out idk i cant really express what i mean but hopefully someone understands me :')
