This was my first Monster Hunter games, and I'll never forget my first online experience. I was having trouble killing or even capturing the Lagi. I felt like I needed help, so I hopped online and posted the online Quest for hunting the Lagi. A group of Master Rank Hunters joined my game and killed the dang thing in 5 minutes flat. I was floored. I was awed. Those guys were so nice and helpful, and I knew that I wanted to be that Hunter to other new people. I'm SO glad to hear that the underwater combat is as awesome as I remember.

This is the game I was most hyped about ever in my life. In 2010 with 13 years old, after dumping 1000 hours into MHFU I got a Wii just for this game.When it came out in April I sprinted home from school (it was a Friday) and got the package with the Classic Controller Pro and while unpacking it I literally had tears in my eyes. I waited for this game for years back then and time flies much slower in that age so it felt like an eternity. I played this game the whole weekend basically without leaving my room. Despite its short content I loved it so much. It felt truly like an upgrade from the PSP games. I dumped 700h in it until I dropped it (I think for MHP3rd back then, which I imported from Japan). I love Tri, I consider even MH3U the completest MH till today. I loved the underwater combat so much, just like you. It felt so refreshing just swimming in there. I really, really hope that underwater gameplay comes back with MH Wilds. I will forever love MH Tri for what it is and for the memories it brings me. MH ist just peak gaming

The polish of tri was unreal. Everything was really well done. The online was perfect. Honestly every monster hunter since hasn't had a multiplayer as good as tri's. The online hub really made it feel like a big community all playing together. I spent hours just hanging out chatting in loc lac and casually hunting with people. I was so disappointed when 4u and Gen ultimate didn't have mid hunt chatting. It really takes away from the experience and made it harder to communicate. When I first played world it seemed like no one knew how to communicate at all online. It really killed my enjoyment of the game and led me to just play solo. Same with rise. Not sure ill ever get the same experience I had back on tri. It really was amazing.

Revisiting this game this past year has been an amazing experience. I'm so glad the fans have revived the online servers for this game and we can experience Loc Lac again. Over half of the content in this game was locked away when the servers went down and that was truly sad. And thanks to the efforts of the team behind the server revival, if they do ever go down again they've provided us the tools to host our *own* servers should the need arise again. Truly inspiring and amazing work on their part to preserve this game. Edit: To the point of your conclusion section that "Tri does have a 'definitive version' in 3U" I stand by my statement that while 3U does have more content it also feels more "bloated" and less focused than Tri. Tri actually has some quirks and features that 3U doesn't, one of my favorites being the caves being dark enough that Torches actually feel helpful, and the game in general having a more dark color palette and lighting, with lower saturation. And on the point of the water combat, some weapons, and in particular Sword and Shield, have *very* lackluster movesets underwater/ For Sword and Shield it's to the point that it's legitimately weak enough that even playing well your overall damage output even with a dedicated build for SnS and targeting elemental weaknesses it is *still* significantly lower damage than any other option, which is absolutely not the case on land. Some weapons, like Greatsword or Lance, perform very well underwater, but Sword and Shield absolutely does suffer underwater.

This game was and is just so awesome, I think: everything from the pleasant, simple-living, happy village; the beautiful, scenic vistas of a tropical/Mediterranean landscape; and the awe-inspiring (and, sometimes, adrenaline-pumping), prehistoric-styled creatures (not to mention just the light-hearted yet also immersive-and-impressive mood and scope of this game) really set it apart from most other games. I also really like how it kind’a threw back to text-based dialogue and classical themes, but also kept up with the standard with a fairly-open world that isn’t so open that one loses direction or purpose in it-the pacing was good, the combat was great, and the setting was immaculate. I also liked that the character had a solid background that was still rather general, at the same time: enough that you know who he-or-she is and what they’re about, but it’s open enough that the details are left to the imagination and to choice. All-in-all, this is one awesome game! 😊

What I loved about tri was that when you go into the hub other hunters are there, you eat together, drink together, and can plan together. In world theres never a need to meet up in the gathering hub and theres many ways to get assistance that it makes interacting very limited/unnecessary, its very rare for someone in the same lobby as me to post a quest and be like who wants to come, or be like "hey we need a bow hunter/specialist". This along with how gathering and crafting can be done on the fly removes alot of planning and experience/value some hunters brought with them to a given lobby. You had to bring everything you needed before starting the quest, and whoever missed the boat or the plane was fresh out of luck until you returned from the quest.

My personal first start of the Monster Hunter series is Tri or Monster Hunter 3. Ultimate came much later, I got spoiled by this game and it was on the Wii, yeah casual gamer lol. I fell in love with this series and got brought under the game's wing with the amazing soundtrack that I still listen to this day. The Deserted Island or the Moga Forest free roam hub with the forecasting of small to large monsters and their habits to be roaming around and or breeding or just avoiding the big monsters like the Great Jaggi for example. Do many hours and days sunk into that game that it was so magical and surreal. I of course knew about 4 ultimate and tri ultimate later was surprising and felt a little disappointed because I felt like everyone quickly moved on and wanted to forget about tri. Thats my personal take, I loved and hated the underwatet combat because when it worked it worked. And when it didn't, it didn't. Like when you got hit or stunned or fainted/died. I got back into it with Ultimate Generations. And was reminded why I loved it and hated myself for not playing it. My friends and family members (brother and cousins and parents when to tell them about the game and to talk in conversations) were hesitant to like Generations ultimate. I ultimately (pun intended) love and like it, it is what it is. Old school monster hunter grindy and levely game play. Now that I have or have many full time actual in real life jobs and can play when I can play besides kepping up with the house and woods and other chores to do. Not an excuse, just saying real life doesn't really bend to a video game. Kind of a luxury video games are if I'm honest and I grew up with them in the 1990's to current day. Anyways TLDR I love the Monster Hunter series and just hope they can make like a remastered Tri Ultimate and a 4 Ultimate in the future or like a dual collection pack or something

What's the real difference between tri and tri ultimate for you from a personal perspective? Wich one would you recommend more? Thanks in advance!
@vdun19 күн бұрын
@@j.s.t.6515I can at least give my input. I enjoyed both a lot, but tri is inherently more difficult from the get-go which I really enjoyed. 3U gives you base 50 defense, so low rank really isn’t difficult at all there. It evens out after a while, as the armour sets get better. It makes up for it by having G-tank, but I personally find it more enjoyable to be difficult the entire journey, and rather have the journey be shorter. There are also a few other things I missed in 3U - day/night cycles in moga village, subquests, and the fact that low-rank armors were usable in high rank if you upgraded them, but they provided different skills than their high rank counterparts. This was to compensate for the lack of other monsters, but I liked it. TL;DR - both are great. Tri has less content, but is more difficult from the start, so it feels very rewarding all the way.

Personally, since I played 3U on the 3DS I had a very difficult time with the camera underwater. However, having a second stick to control the camera definitely relieved this issue. The larger issue with the underwater combat is that it feels very hard to avoid monster attacks. I have come to believe that the developers had to create such large hitboxes due to the 3D environment that I imagine to have caused most of the monster attacks to miss. The lack of the superman dive underwater feels very punishing for attacks with lasting hitboxes. I felt that the vertical dodges should have been the alternative for the superman dive, but it rarely helped in moving out of harms way in my experience. The depth perception in water is another annoying factor that makes weapons with shorter range all the more frustrating. After watching an interview stating that the underwater combats were to make the hunters feel overwhelmed by the monsters in their natural territory, I was able to experience underwater combat in a more composed perspective in my second playthrough 10 years later. In one hand, I appreciated the work they put in creating new movesets and actions underwater. They definitely were not lazily pasted motions from land, but made ground up. On the other hand, I have set my opinion on the side that underwater combat was a new, interesting idea with gorgeous ambience that unfortunately is limited by the 2D projection of a game.

Something amazing but also worrying to me, and I thought about it when you were talking about the cozy 4 player lobbies, is that MHGU, as of April, will be the oldest MH game with official servers that has those nice lobbies. So I got a few thoughts of my on to share on tri, first of its my 4th favourite game in the franchise only being beaten by 1st 4U 2nd world/iceborne 3rd freedom unite which was my first game so I have more nastagla for that one, anyway here il share why I love tri, First of lt does the best job of truly making you feel like the humble hunter of a small village community, the smaller roaster of monsters and weapons acutaly works in its favour and it's a game that takes you on a journey thats personal, I also loved the graphics something about it being a little darker and more dull made the game feel more grounded and real which is part of why I acutaly like tri more then 3U which got a light brighter and more anime with it which I'm not huge on, I prefer the more grounded games, I loved the Moga woods day night cicle and the pirate dude with the longsword, tri has the best companion in cha cha by far, and Lagiacrus is one of the nest Flagships both in being a monster full stop but also is being a acutal Flagship for the game, he's up there with Tigrex and gore magala in my eyes, and it's great to have seen it take a chance with water combat which is something that should return, water combat and the monsters that come with it have to much to offer the series for us to turn our back on it forever, One extra lesson I think tri can also teach us is about how we design monsters and tri had a problem with feeling like it was trying to replace the old roaster, some are great additions that do a good job of being different even if they fill the same role, some are better then old ones, some feel like infirior remakes to me but the point is the lesson we should take from tri is we should mabye stop trying to refill the niches/roles over and over and start making completely new stuff for new environments cuz just look at this list Dromes = greats baby's first monster rapter Yian kut ku = qurupeco early game wyvern Khezu = gigginox cave wyverns Tigrex = Barioth popo eating snow Psudo wyvern Gravious = uragaan giant rocky ore eater Lavisioth = Agnaktor lava swimmer If you acutaly read this il be amazed lol I know this is a bit of rambling essay I just have a lot of thoughts to share lol

Have you heard of the Monster Hunter Tag? It's that has a several questions about your Monster Hunter experience. Look it up. Others have made videos so you can get a feel for it. I already did mine. But I'll tag you anyway, if you're up for it. 👍

Nintendo was willing to help with online servers for Tri and Sony was not and Nintendo helped with development for the Wii so it came out on Nintendos console

There are fan servers that you can join, via Wii or Dolphin Emulator.

The saddest thing is, that outside of Frontier, Tri had the best online mode to this date in the series. World may be a PC/Home Console exclusive, but it still adopts the mobile MH style of Multiplayer, but forced online. The only good thing in World are festivals, Everything else, is better in Tri. Tri, a Game on a console known for bad online Multiplayer has better online Multiplayer than a game on consoles where you need to pay for online Multiplayer (except on PC ofc).

Way way way more playable than the past 2 console versions of the series.... Granted, it's best if you had the wii controller add on 😅 But that in of itself made this game a way better more memorable version than the old school PS2 games with horrifying controls... 😰😓😖

Yeah under water was great. My only guess why it was perceived to have had bad reception was due to an influx of new players. The same people that would complain MH in general is clunky and UW combat was just an easy target.

MH going from PSP to Wii is not strange at all......the original MonsterHunter G had a Wii version before any PSP game was developed

Awesome video but your pronunciation of Lagiacrus is painful lol Edit: you say Laggy-uh-cruise but it should be Luh-guy-a-kris

Thank you! And yeah, I'm not sure about the pronunciation. Never occurred to me when recording. My friends and I at the time said it the way you heard me say it and guess I've never heard it another way, haha.

To be fair, it's never been officially pronounced, and his pronunciation is closer to what the official Capcom video 🙃 what is life but our own interpretation of anything

@@TeraRyzahaha, hopefully, because I googled it and that video is from the official Capcom US channel lol, I have dyslexia so I am used to pronouncing things my own way, one of the first times I looked at Anjanath's name it was capitalized and I then pronounced the name Azjanath in my head for 3-4 weeks, until I heard it in a video 😅

I would legit be devastated if we didn't get a proper return to modern consoles after Rise..
@emblemblade9245 Жыл бұрын
As a Switch owner, I’d be fine with that IF the system that succeeds the Switch does get a port. I’m hoping the nature of the RE Engine allows for such ports to be possible though obviously I can’t guess how powerful the next system will be. I’m not asking for any future games to be made for the Switch(etc) first, and then scaled up for other consoles like Rise was. But I’d feel rather disappointed and annoyed if the main titles of the series have to be so intensive that only half are made available to me (since I just got into the franchise a few years ago with 4U and I’d hate to need to buy another console just to continue playing all of it). I’m sure it’s possible to strike a good compromise still.

I hope it’s available on all platforms sir hater.

@@belikewatersf1051 listen man. I have a switch, but the hardware is weaker than the Xbox one and PS4. It can't handle the level of MH game the community deserves.

This video clearly proved that if they just put enough time and effort into the game it'd be successful this game came out on the Wii for christ sake the thing we all used to just play bowling on and that's it but look at Tri supposed to be a PS3 title but dropped to the Wii and still a gem from most of our teenage/childhood years

I don’t think there’s a version of MHTri for wiiu. There’s 3U, which has more content but not exactly the same feeling as Tri. I think it’s still worth it tho, it has a working multiplayer and you can do hub quests even in solo
