If you press X during the chop swings you will perform a Overhead chop. Also, you can switch from Sword mode to Axe mode after the double slice. I don't know if they changed it but this was the case for 4U. They're just minor details though. Good tutorial!

Quick note: You can, at least in Guild Style, start a elemental discharge faster if you use it right after the 2 fast horizontal swings on sword mode. There's so many details like that on every weapon that I feel that there's always more to learn, and granted, even after almost 500 quests with Switch Axe, I still didn't knew about some things that I saw on this video.

Two quick additions: you can also morph into axe mode after A > A, and you can press X+A during a jump even in axe mode to initiate an elemental discharge.

I like how the Aerial style is realistic in how airborne you are. Like you aren't just basically flying and your team is in the air for a whole minute before landing again just to pop back up again.

something I've noticed in my own game play is that in Adept style the quick double slash in sword mode isn't gone but rather moved to the A button. and you can still pull off the fast elemental discharge from that attack just like in Guild Style

For Striker Style, you can chain the backward slice in Sword Mode into the fast Elemental Discharge.

Hello Arekkz, I was watching through this workshop and i noticed that a combo was missing that was in 4U that was very powerful. The combo starts with the upward swing into the stamina draining left/right axe swing then you hit R to end the combo in your video. In 4U this combo was able to be continued with another R to switch into sword mode then that would lead into any hit but i preferred to go into the stab/phial burst to return me to axe mode. This combo is very powerful and I would like to know if it is available in cross/generations. If this combo is available please make it known too the community for those who do not know. Thank you and keep making videos, I really enjoy watching them.

+CSCTVProductions Power Phial increases attack by 20% while in Sword mode, Elemental Phials increase whatever Element or Status is active on the weapon by 25% in Sword mode. Para, Poison and Dragon Phials essentially give you auto Awaken of their respective Status/Element while in Sword mode(and tend to have a higher amount than their Element Phial counterparts). Exhaust causes attacks in Sword mode to deal Stamina damage(supposedly at a 1/3 chance, but I don't use Exhaust Phial SA), it also allows hits to a monsters head to do KO damage(supposedly 5 KO, but again, I've never used them). Hopefully this helps, until a proper video is made.

Jordan William From every source I've seen the Awaken Armor skill is indeed absent from Gen. That said, I was talking about how Dragon/Poison/Para Phials essentially give you auto Awaken in sword mode, as the Elements aren't active in axe mode, with those particular phials.

+Galladegaming and MuddyMudkips For the most part, if you want to do more damage, Hone Attack; if you aren't that great at dodging or just need the extra defense, Hone Defense. If you are using the bug that has Fast Charge(Fleethammer for Blunt, Foliacath for Cutting) Honing for Life can be extremely Helpful, as the Charge attack on the bug has a MV of 80, takes like 2 seconds to charge, would heal for more than a Mega Potion, if it procs the effect and can be used from a safe range while still doing a decent amount of damage.

How do you use Hunter art's? I am not sure i understand do you unlock latter in the game or do you already have it??

Hunter Arts must be charged first by attacking the monster (Or getting hit for Striker Style) before it can be used. When the gauge is fully charged, simply touch that art gauge from the touch screen. 2 Non-weapon specific & 1 weapon-specific for weapon are unlocked when you start the game. More arts can be unlocked by clearing certain quest.

If the monster head in the popup meter is green, press X as fast as you can, once it gets red, hold R

When the monster thrashes or roars then hold r until it stops then spam x. Rinse and repeat until mounting gauge is filled and it topples over. It is then free reign from there.

The armor is the variant rathalos called the Flame King Rathalos (really good set for SA imo) and the weapon is the final upgrade to the Glavenus SA.

I'd definitely recommend buying X over 4G. The new mechanics introduced in X (hunter arts, slight tweaks in certain weapons, etc.) will take a lot of getting used to if you are used to 4G. X is a good entry point into the series.

Monster Hunter X was released on November 25, 2015 for Japanese 3DS's. Monster Hunter Generations (western version of X) will be released on July 15, 2016. This is confirmed by Capcom.

I'm probably gonna be alone on this, but i'm kinda against the way they made the axe mode of switch axe basically obsolete. Back in 3U and 4U i would rarely ever see any players using the axe mode of switch axe and with these sword mode focused hunter arts i imagine axe mode users will become even rarer in MHG, which is a shame to me because it was it's versatility that drew me to the weapon in the first place.

Um the whole point of the weapon was get to sword mode as fast as possible then just tear into the monster then use axe to get back, the only reason to be into axe was to charge and cut tails of monsters that weren't knocked down. All the Hunter arts did was make the main part of the SA more powerful.

Why do I find so many people saying the axe mode is obsolete in this game? It's like the damage is all that mattered on a weapon. They're both equally good for me, and I switch around them a lot. Sword has better damage and doesn't bounce. Axe has better reach, better mobility, better precision (when you want to hit a weak spot or break a specific part, and goes along with the reach) and from what I experienced it also has better knockback, making knocking down monsters easier with it. The axe is more versatile while the sword trades this versatility for raw damage.

Max Ducks I never use it either. I've been using SA since Tri, and the discharge was a lot harder to pull off back then because it charged much slower, so I just got used to not using it

+Jeck Mester Calm Down,All Weapons are balanced.Its just that u have to get used to them.Since Freedom,(MonsterHunter Freedom,yes,I'm that old) I only used GS,Hannah,and occasionally HBG.After 3U They Balanced them quite well and now all weapons are viable.Like,I DESPISED the Bow, but now im PWNING with it.You just need to find witch one is for u.(I main SA,Lance and Bow,Just to say) Solo HH exist you know XD

George Christidis I would say that I'm pretty calm. However, all weapons being viable isn't the same thing as all weapons being equally good. Are you actually implying that all weapons have the same dps? All weapons are perfectly equal? If that's so, then why are most speed runs Great Swords, Charge Blades, and Heavy Bowguns, and not Gunlances, Swords and Shields, and Bows? Sure, all weapons are at least close in dps, but it's idiotic to say that no weapon is better than another.
