Wouldn't you be better off with a crit 2 from the Kulu grieves? WE only procs an affinity boost when hitting a weak spot and Dual Blades aren't necessarily what you would call a "precise weapon".

Someone on ran the numbers on reddit and showed the burst 5 build is best no matter which element you are running. Now i'm taking their word for it, but it might be worth exploring. Keep up the great work Shawnzy!

just take note that there is a slightly longer commitment to your attacks as compared to a sns so dont go crazy and tap your phone non stop ok.

Hey nice Video. Wouldnt it be a bit better for the thunder set if we would use the Zinogre Boots instead of the kadachi chest? so we can use the Rathalos Chest instead and we would get Burst 1 from the Zinogre Legs instead of Evade Extender from Kadachi chest.

3:55 i was trying to do the math today on a raw build comparing standard diablos and kulu db. i'm not sure how affinity plays together with critical eye effect, but ... at G8.1 a standard diablos DB has 1153 attack points. a kulu has 945 and affinity 25%. critical damage is 125% so thats 945+(945*0.25*1.25)= 1240 attack points. or do i get something wrong? that said, thanks for this as all your videos, all helping me a lot to understand the basic weapon mechanics!

Yeah it should be 945+(945*0.25crit chance*0.25 crit dmg). Cant use 1.25 since u already used 945 at the beginning. Also thanks for watching my vids. Especially since it could be really cringey at times haha

For the raw build, what weapons would you suggest?

ah i cant really suggest since everyone has different preference. every raw weapon is viable. I would suggest that you give every weapon a go to see which playstyle suits you best. Then main that weapon. For me, i main the bow but it doesnt mean that bow would be suitable for you. You gotta give it a go first. ------- ok im not sure if im reading it right. Or did you mean which raw dual blades do i recommend? If thats the case, i'd say diablos would be ok. sorry because there are multiple times when people's comments were not relevant to the actual video itself...

For thunder build, how about swap the chest with Rathalos Chest for WE2, and swap the boots with Zinogre Boots for thunder att 1 and another Burst 1 ?

Yeah I wish demon mode activation was on hold so you could turn it on and off without having to use your special if it's charged. I also wish you could use your special without being in demon mode because if you use it at the beginning it's a waste of stamina and using it at the end can cause a miss or just feel bad due to having a full special bar trying to time it out with the end of your demon stamina. I also feel like it was a missed opportunity to not have arch demon mode so when you run out of demon meter you don't just feel bad waiting for your stamina to fill up with weaker slower attacks. Lastly I wish you could prolong demon mode indefinitely like the main line games by dodging or continuing your combo. I know you can temporarily do it with a regular combo but I think you should be able to dodge to keep it going.

Can you show some builds for the new sleep element? Is the sleep hammer good?

All sleep weapons are decent!. I think of it as another weapon much like para. While yes you can wait for it to fall asleep, there's just too much waiting time to set up for that 1 big hit. I rather just continue to hit it while it's falling asleep. During the galling asleep and waking animation, there's quite a lot of time to hit it. However!!! Whatever I've just said is only based on some videos I've watched. It's not like in main game where it is so easy to craft weapons. The resources are hard to come by in this game. New vids will take a while!

Hello, i'm a new player to MHN and i really love dual blades. Do you think elemental builds need a critical eye or critical boost? Plus what's the difference between eye and boost?

Hello. It's gonna be a long reply so strap in. Affinity = chance to deal critical dmg. By default positive crit = extra 25% dmg and negative crit = -25% dmg. So if you have 10% affinity, you have 10% chance every hit to deal 125% dmg. Crit boost increases this extra 25% bonus dmg. For elemental weapons, prioritize elemental attack 5(e.g fire attack 5, ice attack 5 etc) first because at lv 5, you get a bonus of 500 dmg, 100% of the time! Btw the elemental value of your weapon only kicks in when you're against a monster weak to that element. I.e 100 raw + 200 ice = 300 against monsters weak to ice. Same weapon = 100 attack only, against monsters that aren't weak to ice. I would suggest to focus on getting elemental 5 first and next focus on increasing your affinity with skill such as weakness exploit, crit eye, latent power. You don't need them all, just whatever works for you.

For sure. If youre farming and means you're comfortable hunting that level's monster so you don't need the wex. However, if you noticed that you don't break additional parts, and yet able to clear hunts comfortably, maybe you can go with Legi chest for 2x divine blessing

One time I accidentally performed some kind of forward moving perfect dodge with DB that also simultaneously activated demon mode and I have not been able to replicate it since. How did I do it and what’s that mechanic?

so you're saying that you were not in demon mode, did a perfect evade by moving forward and got into demon mode while doing that. Not sure dude, ive never heard of this ..

@@shawnzyplays I tapped the demon mode button around the same window that you would perform a perfect dodge and I got a perfect dodge animation that I’ve never gotten before. Like I said, it was a weird forward moving perfect dodge attack that happened right after I tapped the demon mode button.

crit is good but sometimes flat dmg is better. crit is a chance to deal extra 25% dmg. its good if your weapon attack is high. Else other skills may be better. For example if you're using elemental weapon, element attack 5 gives you 500 attack, 100% of the time. compared to crit which gives u extra 25%... x% of the time.

I was thinking of trying a concentration + special boost build. Lumu helm, Anja chest, Anja belt, Rathian gloves, and Banbaro grieves, which will give concentration 2, special boost 3, divine blessing 1, windproof 1, burst 2, and lock on. Not sure how viable it is, since I lose a lot of crit, but am curious whether that would work. If I can hit 3 specials in a fight, then it's worth it, since the special does a hefty amount of damage. I will need to hunt a lot more Diablos to check viability though, as my Diablos DB is at grade 5 and almost every monster that spawns for me is 8*. I'll report back when I get all my gear to grade 6 and DB to grade 7, which is probably going to take a while, because my paralysis build is kind of useless against 8*s.

Armour set crafting is fluid! Whatever you don't have atm, just use something else that suits your playstyle first! Maybe not paolumu since you're already so mobile. But if you're new to db and just want to mess around with it for now, go with paolumu till you are more familiar with the weapon.

It's a good skill. Have yet to test if it affects only raw or both raw and elemental. However, I feel that it is not consistent unless you are ALWAYS perfect evading in demon mode. I prefer something that is more consistent. Like burst.

The difference between thunder 4 and 5 is 150 thunder attack. Burst 4 gives 20% bonus to only the raw part. So let's calculate to see if it is worth sacrificing 150 attack for 20% raw bonus. 150/ 0.2 = 750. If the raw part of your weapon is above 750, then the bonus from burst 4 would be more than the bonus you get for 1 lv of thunder from 4 to 5.
