Here's a tip that I found out just running this earlier today. Try putting Behemoth to sleep in the first area underneath the falling boulders. Once he falls asleep drop the boulders and because it's considered the first hit he'll take double damage! [3500 rather than 1750] Definitely helps speed up the first phase! Happy Hunting Hunters!

Right, it all depends on your team. If you don't have a good team or if even one person doesn't know what the hell they're doing, it can cost you the entire hunt. Like 25 attempts and still haven't killed him... I barely die at all but failed so many times because of randoms. Is it really that easy to solo him, because I'm seriously considering it...

Just make sure to pay attention to where you are running. Wouldn't want to be stuck between a wall/corner and a tornado like a friend did. Or between two tornados like 50% of the randoms I played with yesterday did.

also be careful when using farcasters while he's using charybdis, behemoth can block the entrance to the camp forcing you to take the long route back

Had a random just wailing on behemoth whilst being tracked by charybdis to the point where the tornadoes were *everywhere* - they carted, but then I got stuck trying to avoid an enemy I couldn't see and trying to not get juggled by tornadoes.

From a lore standpoint, it makes sense BEHEMOTH is so weak to anormal status. He is from another dimension, so his immune system is not ready to handle the multiple poisons and other statuses from the world of monster hunter.

Dragon Pods are another great way to gain enmity. Keep aiming at the head, and you should gain enmity before you run out of Dragon Pods.

Me, that's the long short story, me and my friend were trying to kill the behemot and then we met a level 999 Japanese player, we build a tactic, the Japanese player fight the behemot solo and we stay the farest as possible to not get caught by the super nova or die in 2 hits, we beat him with this strategy and we managed to make 3 parts of the armour and tomorrow we have to retry the quest because a friend didn't do it but now without the Japanese guy we don't know how to do it

Beat it 5x in a row with a good squad yesterday here’s how: - have a healer with wide range 5 (SnS or HH) - sleep Behemoth under the rocks in area 1 and drop the rocks on him for wake-up - mount him 3x and each time the guy mounted just holds the mount (no attacking, just move on Behemoths back when he tries to shake you off) while the rest of the group attacks and a Wide Range hunter eats rations to keep the mounter’s stamina up - bring temporal mantle and vitality mantle and save those for the last area where Behemoth is the most aggressive - when Behemoth leaves an area after the ecliptic meteor fast travel to camp to resupply if needed - if a teammate is pinned down or stunned and about to get killed, flashpod Behemoth and/or heal your teammate - if you are flattened or pinned down and about to be attacked while on your back, flashpod or slinger shot to Behemoth’s face will flinch him so you can get up and Evade and heal yourself

SnS wide range is an undeniable jewel for the team, but why do people keep lumping HH into the "wide range support"? You have sheathe like any other weapon, HH is no better at wide range than Long Sword. Furthermore, usually you really avoid sheathing with HH because you have only *one* unaheathe attack color note (white/purple) so chances are you're ruining whatever song you were building.

To correct something, during the Ecliptic Comet Behemoth's placement is actually important. The reason being if he casts Ecliptic Comet and you decide to hide behind a comet that just so happens to be in front of him, his casting "stomp" animation 90% of the time push you out of the way into the comet's line of fire.

Pretty Much what Zal Yagun Ryai said, I carry every powder (Hardshell and Demon as well) and extra materials to make lifepowder. I also Carry every potion imaginable and materials to make more if need be. Currently My Kulve armor is the best defense and I basically maxed out the wide range so my items have the most effect on my team. I also Carry a demonsdrug or armorskin to give them a temporary boost as well. On my end I like to say I'm pretty good. The biggest issue I've had was either someone got overwhelmed and lost too much Hp to the point we couldn't recover it fast enough or that Giant meteor move - almost every time someone isn't paying attention and it wipes out someone Did you use the alpha or beta Kulve armor out of curiosity?

My biggest tip is to join an SOS for the optional quest, not the special assignment version. The people playing will generally have successfully completed their first kill so you tend to get much better teammates.

Behemoth will always cast meteor at the very end as a sort of deathrattle, should your party survive this last meteor you will complete the quest

Helpful tip. After behemoth dropped all his comets and destroyed them all leaving nothing to hide behind, leave the fight for a while. He'll regenerate small part of his health, when you get back to fighting he'll drop another comet or two for you. Third battle he destroyed all four comets and I told the guys to back out. They all got a bit frustrated to how to handle the issue maybe sacrificing one of us, but got shocked that he heals himself. But after going back he dropped two more comets during our fight.

Also for charybdis (coming from a mmo player) If you find the effect around you while hes casting, just run to the side of the area and get the tornado out of the way of the fight. This is some really basic stuff. No need for flash pods if you dont have them

Good tips as always, also good thing I'm using all of them already. ^^ Fight is pretty tough anyways but fun as hell. One last tip Arekkz you have to add: Behemoth will always use an ecliptic meteor when he is about to die and since he only drops 1-2 comets to hide behind in the last area, it is pretty essential that he and the players dont destroy them by accident. Nothing is more disappoiting then getting a 3 man instant death right before the Behemoth dies. Yep, it happend multiple times to me. 😅

Another helpful tip. When you mount Behemoth don’t take him down instantly. Just stay on his back while your team does damage. Behemoth stays in one spot and only switches directions. I was able to stay on him for a solid 2 minutes. He skipped right to his ecliptic meteor after he got up in the final phase.

For using flash pods for the tornado attack; please be mindful that those not only reset aggro for the tank but also makes it so behemoth immediately follows up with an aggressive attack. Please don't spam it for the sake of spamming it... SoS runs yesterday was particularly rough as I'd almost never be able to get aggro to keep them off the rest of the team and people kept getting run over by the charging attacks he'd constantly spam as a result... flash responsibly people...

Or you could... I dunno lead the tornado to the side of the room when it's tracking you. The thing is very much styled like the Behemoth fight in FF14 and follows a lot of MMO game mechanics in general. The fact that you can purposely position the comets freely throughout the map is another example of players being able to control the way the fight plays out. Plus the person that has aggro gets attack focus so the party can freely apply damage. That includes tornado. If the tank is any good, the tank will position the attacks in such a way that it doesn't hit the rest of the party.

CoreFlood that sounds great except I'm not the only one the tornado will be tracking. If you're playing with a group you can communicate with they yeah tell them to do that but me and many others don't play with others we know. People will either mess up or not listen and you can't control that. That's why the better option would be to flash. Hell I'm the one playing tank and I'd still rather have him flashed because I can easily get his aggro again.

Getting and maintaining aggro is part of it yes but that's not my point. I don't mind the fact that he's getting flashed, what irks me is that people aren't realizing that every time they do it, they forget that Behemoth will have an immediate rebuttal usually consisting of him slamming his shoulder into the ground and charging through party members directly in front of him. Not everyone has guard up, evade window 5 or just the general reaction time to evade normally. I'm finding this follow up to be the source of a lot of carts when we could really use them when he dumps that big meteor and there's that one dude so far out of position to get behind a comet (if there are any left...)

When he has aggro, I don't think he casts tornados, so that's something you can think of (or I'm wrong). Generally, I don't flash him, I prefer moving them to another side of map, as long as it is not next to a comet

He is a pretty tough challenge. But therefore you really don't need many materials to craft everything. I killed him 4x with some more fail runs (you get 1x Horn or 1x Tail in those most of the time) and was able to craft Dragoon Armor, Insect Glaive + Upgrade, Kinsect Upgrade and the Palico Armor Set. Pretty fair!

Coolest part of this fight for me so far was when the big meteore came down in the Nergigante zone and I had to slide down the slope to get to cover, where everybody else was, at the last second. Really got me pumped up!

You can flash Behemoth when he has enmity on someone who doesn't want it, or isn't fit for it. Break the beast's gaze!

You don't need to flash his face for tornado. He casts it on one person, it's SO much better to have that person run to the edge of the room to 'place' the tornado out of the way while everyone else wails on his stationary face... no one does it though. Flashing interrupts, but it also snaps him out of the animation and gets him going again...

Depends on who he's casting it. Fast sheathing weapons and lance have time to sheath and sprint on edges. Gunlance and CB takes so long to sheath that, unless you're already close to walls, you'll likely end up putting it somewhere in the middle of the fight.

Thank you sir!! I legit had to run this mission a good 40+ times in order to beat this guy. Tips helped a lot. Really comes down to the randoms you group up with and how well you work together. But here's some advice to anyone still struggling: -dragon pods to his face for aggro are great. If tanking, defend with the guard up skill from the uragaan armor set, the charm, or the decoration if you have it to guard most of his attacks and alternate with the temporal mantle when its on cd. Keep in mind that behemoths horn charge seem to be unblockable (the one that causes bleeding) and of course his EM. -wide range skills are key - heals and astera jerky for the bleeding -placement of comets is key. make sure to not clump them together in case you risk him destroying them all. Frustrating as hell, but the armor and weapon are worth it! GL!

There is one more tip to keep in mind. Challenger mantle does not work. I tried to use it while tanking and he completely ignored me all together.

Note that the Challenger mantle effect is disabled the moment you get hit, so it's not really practical at all in this fight, the built in Aggro mechanic is all you need to focus on really.

Someone may have mentioned this as well, but personally my team also used the Temporal Mantle during the second phase when he spams lightning and all of his other casts. It basically auto dodges almost all of his attacks so you can freely attack the boss, even while you have aggro. This strategy really helps take the pressure off during Behemoth’s spammy tendencies.

Just beat my first behemoth. We had a full party of hammer bro’s. Learned from fighting him with other hunters about the flash Pods to stop tornados. The heavy Bowgun sounds like an interesting tool for the fight.

I've found The *REAL* Winning Strategy for taking down Behemoth (not finalized but it has worked 3 times for me): Try your hardest to mount him. The mounting team member doesn't attack while mounting it. Just ride it as long as your stamina bar holds out while the team wails on it. That way by the time you fall off, he casts comet then Ecliptic Meteor and your onto the next phase. *And* he can't do attacks while you mount him.

Lunastra's hunting horn is also amazing for somebody to use in this fight. I use that plus widerange lvl5 and go full support for my team. We got through the entire fight with zero deaths.

Awesome video as always arekkz! My advice for hunting behemoth is learn to be self sufficient - sure, you'll have people healing you, buffing you, but in the event your healer is stunned or the tank just carted, you can still step in and take over - take the aggro and dodge until everyone tops off, heal whenever someone gets hurt (people often neglect how bad thunderblight can be in this game) and don't get greedy with damage. It takes a team to hunt, but a team is about as good as going solo if every individual isn't prepared to step in for someone else in the event things go pear shaped.

On the flip side, there's always someone who's not only the furthest away from the comet, but also in the middle of a big attack animation when the Ecliptic Meteor shows up, leading to a cart because he can't sheathe and run behind it fast enough.

Yes! I always keep that distance between the comet but its like they put the welcome mat in front of the comets and decide to fight near it. Lost one round completely because there was literally no comets to hide behind

i recommend practicing the jump from behind the comets, if you get it right you'll teleport to behemoth's head, and then next time there's no comets you'll be able to dodge it. let's just hope someone else in the party has feline insurance.

Its better if everyone just runs 3 flashpods, 10 flashbugs, all damage focus with wide range 3 on everyone or at least just one main support rest damage with at least wide range three, you can comepletely ignore enmity mechanic if everyone can heal, the person who is being targeted by tornado should focus on flashing, if 2 or 3 seconds have passed and no flash, everyone should focus on flashing him yes you may waste a flash but its better than letting the tornado cast, also just run 'Defense Large' buff from canteen to maximize survivability

His most damaging attack isn't really element heavy, so unless your set is -20 fire/thunder against his meteor/thunderbolt, defense would be better. Now with the diminishing return in the calculation, defense over 500 is not that much of a gain either, but still. In the end, depends on what moves you manage to avoid less.

Yeahhh, I don't really get the point of having someone hold aggro. You don't really want one person to be completely targeted by any other monster, so why would it be a benefit in this one fight? From what I can tell, the only thing that changes is that his meteor only targets one person instead of everyone after his first phase.

you should do tips for doing this quest solo/with random people dont get me wrong, but in a game where most people are stuck with random players, playing with your squad made up of great hunters-friends is 100% easy mode

Ok, so the timing is a second after the "Behemoth casts Ecliptic Meteor" message appears. Then you might want to press the jump gesture right at that moment.

Just a heads up I survived the ecliptic meteor while in the base by climbing in the tent as I panicked after being carted. He called it as i was running towards the battle and i turned and ran back to the base and climbed in the tent.

I hate the fact that I can't beat it alone. Teammates are always too stupid to position themselves by the Meteors while fighting and then have a problem when getting to them while Behemoth casts Ecliptic meteor. I have been fighting this thong for almost 2 days now and haven't beaten it once because other people always die.

IkuraNomz yea it does. You have to have your palicoe on plunderblade. The aerathyte shard doesn't drop as a shiny but your cat can grab one in the quest results. The horn and shearclaw require part breaks and the bone and mane drop as shinies

The nightmare is over!!! killed him enough times to get all I need. Strange on how easy he became once I wasn't worried of dying anymore. A mix set of his gear is sooooooooo sick😍. Did a small 2 min video if u want to see. Head, arms, chest, and leg pieces combined with Val hazak gamma waist gave me enough slots. Did max attack, max critical eye, max crit boost, max part breaker, and max weakness exploit. Side perks from gamma piece was recovery speed and dragon attack. I feel like with masters touch, this can be a hard build to beat running with the right weapon choice. Can't wait to see your mix set vid for this armor set. Keep it up with all the awesome tips 👍

You know Arekkz, they way you're INTENDED to deal with Charybdis is to run off to the side of the arena and put it down where it's out of the way. This is alsi nice because while casting Charybdis, his head is VERY vulnerable., and the flash interrupts this.

I would recommend one player to take the support role. My set consist on the Lunastra set: wide range +5, fungi skill +1(10 blue shrooms=10 lifepowders)+50 vitality, lunastra gs(guts skill) tremor immunity and handicraft charm. The +50 vitality helps if your caught in a bad spot, Luna set already has minds eye if your target are horns plus it already covers the defense for both lightning and fire. Behemoth is susceptible to sleep, parálisis and poison so take advantage of that plus plenty of pods will drop use them specially thorn ones, land those on the head and instant KO. But be careful any shots on the head will draw agro.
