Sulfurian5267 yes layered is available, but you have to make the r12 version of the weapon you want to layer, for example, you have to make dark claw demise if you want to layer other long swords to look like the scythe

@Sulfurian: Layered is already available, BUT you need to craft the Rarity 12 version of the weapon from the type you want. So, if you want to layer your Safi longsword as the Alatreon scythe, you have to craft the Dark Claw "Demise" first! However, farming him for when layered MR armors drop in the next title update is a good excuse too :D

@Shahriar Tahmid Rownok It's all about positioning when doing the doots, it's near the back legs because Altreon hardly ever does his tail swipe, and the biggest threat is his Dragon explosion. Once you get the element effectiveness up first, it's likely Altreon will jump back and then you cast self improvement and Elemental attack up. Sad to say that the only time i've killed Altreon was when I was playing a Support Hunting Horn build. I easily consume 30+ Super Healing pots and 15+ nullberries, and the team barely does enough damage with elemental to prevent the nova. The buffs help a lot and once you have the rarity 12 alteon hunting horn you can fucking SMASH Altreon's head and break the horns because the most competent team members are busy gutting the stomach and tail with dual blades and longsword (LS have proven the best in dealing damage and avoiding death i've noticed). Never seen another impact weapon on the field, and I doubt Charge blades have impact phials for the fight.

The greatsword, against Alatreon himself, can hit for 2000+ damage consistently on his head with a TCS. Plus, my favorite looking weapon.

Dragon ammo rapid is only decent for the ammo savings on a full hunt since the rapid fire is only 1.5 vs 2 for most ammos. Also the 4 recoil is not something that works well with the slow arcing movement of the dragon ammo bullet since it throws you backwards and out of position for the followup shots. Kjarr Thunder LBG is still the best for dragon ammo para setups on diablos, deviljho etc.

Long sword is the coolest design, but I love the Greatsword. I've been using it with Alatreons armor, alpha helmet with all other beta pieces, and its awesome. Hits every bit as hard as the meta blast GS sets. And it's especially hard hitting against Alatreon. Just causally hitting 2000 on his face as he roars at you lol

The RF dragon is neat but kind of a gimmick. You still can't carry enough dragon ammo to carry a fight with it... The rest of the LBG is ridiculous though. Looks like it will be the go-to meta for every element except water (Aquashot still OP there). Only complaint is the lack of status ammo, though that's not really a 'complaint' because if it had that too it would just be straight up broken.

I stopped doing SOS flares and started "soloing" Alatreon when I basically saw us getting carted by the first judgement or earlier, and decided "well if I can't kill him I'll just have my Palico get his parts". After a few runs where I basically tried (and usually half-failed) to not die, my Palico Palaranged enough parts for a weapon. I went charge blade first since thats one of my mains, but now i think i should've gone LBG. edit: or maybe HH. I'm not a HH main but its in my pocket, I've got a few well upgraded safi-horns.

Hi, you can craft everything without beating him. Equip the Plunderblade for your Palico, it will get you all the materials you need except for Wings and Tail. To get Wings, break them and "leave the mission" (100% chance). To get the Tail, cut it and carve it (91% chance).

Thank you all, yeah using a high elemental safi ice hammer right now so just trying to get lucky lol. Yeah might just have to slowly save up on his parts and see what happens heard alatreon weapons works good on him. I am playing on ps4 so i'll definitely come back to people here if I am still having problems. Right now I am just still trying to get better, I actually got to a point were that nova isn't a problem its just having as much health as possible before he does it for the 3rd time/ trying to kill him before he gets to that point lol.

I want to point out the Blight Res Up song actually increases your elemental resistance. Meanwhile, blight negated is the negation of all blights. Suffices to say, blight res up will increase your elemental attack when using alatreon armor

My favourite alatreon weapon has to be the switch axe. I’ve got it with a health aug and element aug plus the safi 3 piece and alatreon 2 set and after eating for element resist up (plus maxed dragon attack up in slots) the sword mode sits at 1600 dragon attack. Also just have personal bias for the switch axe though. Definitely going to make the Hunting horn next though!

I've made the LBG, long Sword and Insect Glaive. The LBG is a beast for elemental deeps, paired with a full Safi armour set its next level. The long sword too is incredible, especially against anything weak to Dragon. Definitely gonna make the Hunting Horn next, so I have all the weapons I play most.

It's definitely better than blackveils CB in terms of sharpness, dragon element and attack power. The dual blades are fantastic too, bad ass looking and the stats are beautiful.

A note about the LBG that he didn't say, the default amount of recoil when you RF any of the elemental shots is +2, meaning you can get that sweet moving volley without using a single recoil mod. As with all the Alatreon weapons, this means your build is very free to do whatever you want.

Use full safi beta armor, and kjarr ice dual blades. Get felyne insurance, and have level up ur palico health wasps so it can revive u if u faint. Thus u have 5 lives, and can solo him! (i managed to do this solo, and I've never used DBs before!)

Here’s something you may not have noticed with the Alatreon LBG! The fire and ice are inverted. All elemental ammo (besides dragon coz dragon ammo is weird) are rapid fire recoil 2 reload normal. Ice takes 3 recoil mods to get to recoil 1, but 1 reload mod to get to fast reload, and fire takes 1 recoil Mod, but 3 reload mods, (I believe both water and thunder take 2 of each)

The Alatreon Hunting Horn is crazy good against Alatreon itself where Elemental DPS has a bigger payoff. Also, I love that the Alatreon Bow has access to all coatings except Poison (of course you can use Poison Smoke Bombs to poison a monster and it's far quicker for better damage uptime). It actually makes using all the coatings pretty viable.

A few points about the LBG: It has Recoil+1 and Fast Reload for *all* elemental ammos. The reason the Aquashot was so busted was because it got Water Ammo to recoil+1, but all the other Safi LBGs couldn't do that. Now you got a single LBG that can do all four, *plus Rapid Fire Dragon* (which isn't great but hilarious). Also, if you want to do Alatreon with an LBG but don't have the Alatreon one yet, Lunastra works instead. Same Ice/Fire RF, slightly worse Recoil and Reload stats tho.

You can also build a decent Safi HH with fire/ice/dragon element with Elemental Song IV to get a similar effect. It won't be close to the base elemental damage but it's a poor man's option and you can spec into fire/ice with Safi HH.

3:00 you mention the catch of getting an Alatreon weapon to help people struggling with alatreon, heres a PSA for the community. 1: If you're getting your butt kicked but really want the weapons, Try bringing Plunderblade and just try to break his horns and wall-bang him often. You'll be able to build and upgrade the weapons without ever killing Alatreon, granted it will take much longer. 2: If this is too much or too inconvenient, Try Soulfire Rasp Blaze, the Lunastra LBG. It has rapid-fire ice and fire ammo, at normal reload, and can be modded for low recoil and power barrel, achieving similar results to the Alatreon Dominator LBG.

I main the Ala HH and I can certainly attest that Alat hunting horn makes the fight so much faster with a group who knows what they are doing. The Elemental Effectiveness Atk Boost + Effectiveness us gets him to flinch in under a minute with a good group. You can trip him at least 3 times before his 1st nova atk and kill before 2nd nova even goes off. It's really strong against almost every elder dragon and Rath types as well. Plus it looks like a giant facehugger from Aliens when sheathed! haha.

All the Alatreon melee weapons are Top Tier Dragon Element for their classes, they compete almost neck and neck with the Kjarr weapons, with a few exceptions that pull ahead like Bow and DBs. SnS, for example, has almost identical Raw and Element between the Alatreon and Kjarr options. Alatreon has the advantage of much better Sharpness and better Slots, Kjarr has inherent Affinity and Crit Element.

@Arekkz Gaming you forgot to mention that the LBG reaches Recoil lv 1 on Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Water Ammo with 3 Recoil mods. It also has Rapid Fire Dragon(2 shot rapid fire), which is unique to it. This LBG basically replace the Safi Hellshot, and Boltshot, along with the Kjarr Thunder(which was the best Ice LBG due to Crit Element, huge mag size, and Lv 1 recoil) as the best Bowgun for those Elements. It also makes farming Alatreon absurdly easy as you can build a Safi set around it with 6 Ice, and Fire boost, 3 Health Boost, Blight Resist, Evade Window, and Free Element/Ammo Up, along with Fortify, plus some miscellaneous skills for an easy clear.

I haven’t beat alatreon yet but if i can contribute to helping someone get further along the fight, then good. USE SAFIJIVA FROSTCLAWS farm safi’jiva for his ice element dual blades then upgrade those dual blades for max element damage then add the ice attack skill and the safi armour and you can get to about 850 (ish) ice attack, 4 times higher than the velkhana dual blades. When alatreon flies and you can’t hit him, USE SMOKENUTS, they force him to land to look for you and he won’t take flight again for a while. BRING SHIELD SPIRE PALICO GEAR. Having your palico act as a tank for alatreon and taking his attention off you during his long attacks can give you some much needed breathing room to heal or attack. His radial random lightning attacks direction can be predicted, when the small blue dots appear on the ground when he’s charging they either move away from him or towards him, that shows wether they start close to him and move outwards or away and move inwards, useful thing to know if you’re a melee user. TLDR: safi’jiva dual blades modded for max element, use smokenuts when he starts flying, shield spire palico to but you some time and breathing room. If a medium skilled dumbarse like me can get alatreon down to 30 percent health solo using these methods then i have faith that a better player than me can finish the fight or at least make it farther than i did. Good luck hunters who actually read this...

You can actually get the alatreon layered weapons if you have the respective weapon crafted to max. So Alatreon LS maxed unlocks the layered weapon for lonswords. Edit: you forgot CB. It's actually the best dragon CB for pure SAED's now. 510 base dragon attack vs 450 (from kjarr decay). You might say "ooooh, but kjarr has crit element" but crit element doesn't count for phial ticks.

i made the claw of demise but the lbg is fun and the dragon ammo even though is hard to use is fantastic if you can pull the angle and the right moment to shoot it does a good chuck of dmg while alatreon is in dragon active.

The base version of it? I made it but I haven't tried using it solo. Bowgun doesn't feel like it does a lot of damage to Alatreon

TheDarkSpade1 it’s not entirely about the the damage it does but the versatility it offers I got my first few kills with safi b and that bowgun. And with rapid fire all elements make its so perfect for recovering DPS if you can’t break his horns since you can change your element with the battle rather than needing to cart to change weapons

@@TheDarkSpade1 In reality, you are correct, Ala's HZV's are super low for ranged everywhere but the chest. But then again, the guy above me is still right, the versatility makes up for it.

You play LBG? Safi with Luna Blaze LBG lets you ignore Horn Breaks, though you should still aim for them. You just have to max Fire, and Ice Attack.

I finally beat this guy in a four man hunt with the Stygian zinogre hunting horn. It has the exact same songs as the alatreon horn I highly recommend it for trying to topple the beast.

You forgot to mention that the LBG can get down to rapid fire recoil 1 with fast reload (if you opt to not use power barrel) for all elements...except for Dragon of course. That is why it is so great.

Man, I’m still disappointed they didn’t give us the Hero’s Blade, or Shining Wyvern Blade, as they are ICONIC Monster Hunter weapons, but, we got Platinum Dawn and Alatreon Star, so, I’ll be quite happy with them in my arsenal. Not to mention how amazingly barbaric the Rajang SnS (both) are.

The greatsword combined with the Alatreon set actually out dpses any meta GS set against Dragon weak enemies. But yea I just made it so I can unlock the layered weapon and go flex in the gathering hub.

That monster has a dangerous of status effects. Are you using antidote and para resist? He's easy if your prepared for him. Bring traps too. And until your ready don't chase after the meta. Comfy skills like divine blessing, health boost 3 and stun resist can go a long way in beating any monster this game has to offer. I have over 2,000 hrs in this game and couldn't have gotten there without some comfort. It's good to hear you kept trying. It'll make you a better hunter in the end👍!

You missed the God tier ability of the HH, it has Elemental Effectivness. That increases all your elemental resistance quite a bit. It is the best weapon I can bring to Alatreon.

I really want that armor. But the weapons look so damn good. I really want the charge blade bc it just looks so beautiful. But I'm insect glaive user and so far it's been the most useful weapon for me during the alatreon fight. Especially when paired with the Rider Charm I just equipped.

I am farming him to get all the weapons to unlock the layered. I got a long way to go because I barely made the lbg. I have 4 dragonshire so far. Ill be willing to get 50 in case for the layered armor in the future.

It's not really close when it comes to best weapon, objectively speaking. It's the Light Bowgun. That thing outdid every elemental option except for the Safi Aquashot (the Stormslinger is also better on thunder, but that is a different playstyle and more importantly, it is PS4 exclusive so I am not counting that even though I play on PS4). It displaced every Safi weapon except one, and it can fire all elements at low recoil and fast reload. It even has rapid fire on dragon ammo, which is bizarre. The only bad thing is that it lacks status.

What do you think they'll do with future installments of MH? Do you think they'll have MH World and the base games stay seperate, or will they homogenize?

The japanese are big on the more classic MH entries. That said, I wouldn't mind a hybrid of sorts, where most of the movesets and QoL make it into the game, while some stuff doesn't (like clutch claws, too much environmental stuff etc)

Made the Val Hazak y layer set just for Dark Claw "Demise." Fits even better than the Alatreon armor set.
