Monster King Salmon Jon Boat Lake Michigan

I went out again after work on this Thursday night for another adventure on Lake Michigan searching for Chinook Salmon. I exited the harbor and turned to port in order to troll the east break wall. Halfway down the break wall, WHAM... What a fight! The fish would not stop. I had this beast on for a solid 10 minutes while rocking and rolling in my little boat. Then, to top it off, I pulled off a crazy stunt while fighting the fish to save my battered right arm from another injury. You have to see it to believe it...

Waaaaaay more braver (or is it reckless) than I Grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan That lake nearly drown me not once but twice and did take the lives a more than one friend Ive seen not exaggerating one bit lake Michigan go from calm as a farm pond to life threatening and ending rough in mere moments way to many times to ever risk going out on it in a John boat. Been out on lake Michigan Erie and Superior many times But every time it was in a boat much better suited to potential rough water than a John boat

My uncle died when his John boat hit a rough wave on Lake Michigan! The boat threw him out and of course he didn’t have the tether attached and it came around and hit him knocking him unconscious and he drowned! Be extremely cautious and don’t take the lake for granted! She’s always in charge! Rip uncle Fred!

Sorry about your uncle's misfortune. I realized the danger when I was out there. In fact, I haven't taken the SS Minnow out on Lake Michigan since 2018. It was fun and exciting but dangerous and risky, especially when the water temps were lower in the fall.

How deep do u go in ? I'm planning on starting to troll next seasonal do you use your trolling motor for trolling or main motor sorry for the dumb questions its a first for me

I use the gas motor. Whatever you do, be careful because that lake kills a lot of people every year. The winds change and pick up quickly and with lower water temps it makes it all that more dangerous.
