I consider this one of the best albums to come out of the 90's..... honestly, it's one of my favorite albums of all time. I've said it in other posts, but I don't understand how Monster Magnet didn't get the notoriety they deserved....Their first 4 albums were great. This one (Dopes to Infinity) is by far my favorite....and I'll admit, when Powertrip first got released (I bought it the day it was available) I was kind of disappointed.....because it was so different than "Dopes"....but over time that album really grew on me. Since then, I think they've had their ups and downs....but on every album there's always at LEAST a couple good tracks. These guys deserve(d) far more than they get.

This is one of those songs that's always existed, echoing through universes... they're rare, but you know them when you hear them. Monster Magnet seem to make a lot of these deep meta multiple dimensional tunes... I love it.

First time I heard this album was using mescaline with some coworkers and a couple lovely ladies, one of whom made it in the music biz and I won't snitch.I was overjoyed to have some sex and drugs in my rock n roll during the days of introspective grunge. Thank you Monster Magnet.

I remember being about 18 years old (summer of '95 I think), completely out of my mind on LSD, wandering along the road between Port Mouton and Liverpool in rural Nova Scotia with this album playing in my Shockwave (remember those?) portable CD player. I got so disoriented when I began to peak that I just found a spot off the road and laid in the grass. It was a perfect night for tripping, warm but not humid, and cloudless. Keep in mind there were no light poles on that road back then. Well, anyway, I had been so engrossed in the music, trudging along, that it was only after I laid down and stared skyward that I realized I was witnessing EVERY STAR IN THE GALAXY swirling above me. I just laid there with the music going, thinking of the most beautiful things, things I still can't really describe, to be honest. It was only when I finally got back up to head back into Port Mouton that I realize I'd been weeping. It was intense. Anyway, sometime later I made it back to my buddy's parent's cottage, which our friend group had commandeered for the weekend. My friend Chrissy saw me coming up the road, and met me halfway. She said, "Where did you go?" This particular song, AFAKC, was about to start on the CD. She was tripping too (we all were) so I just said, "Here", and gave her the earphones. She listened to the first thirty seconds of the track, noticeably shivered, took the earphones off, and said, "Luke, you're into some spooky shit, man." I just laughed and told her I still loved her anyway.

Here's a truly magnificent band that I don't got their respect due. There are certain bands from the era that were maybe a bit in the same ballpark, but they are the ones who got all the credit. Yet their music sucked and they hardly had any good songs. Monster Magnet had great songs in droves. They had great songs and themes in those songs are as great as any. You listen to song like this and you go, damn I really wish I played in THAT band.
