Having the opportunity to see them on their home turf in New Jersey during this era is still one of the high lights of my life - if you didn’t get the chance to see them live you have no idea how absolutely incredible they were. This album is still a total masterpiece.

yes man... saw em at stone pony around 94 I think It was so great at moments I was literally fucking scared! hahahaha

RK rk: Saw them at both the Stone Pony and Fastlane around this time, too - I’m sure we were both at the same shows! Hard to believe how good they were then.

Seen them live four times in Minneapolis. Best shows of my memory. Dave just keeps on rocking.

It is really good but I could never choose between Spine of God, Nod Scene and Ozium. It's a three-way tie. But the entire album itself is a cohesive experience and you should definitely listen to all at once. Even the demo track of Ozium adds to the experience, despite immediately following the regular version. Simply put, I love this album as a whole and it is easily my favorite from Monster Magnet.

I was a straight edge kid but loved monster magnet. My hardcore band even did a cover of this song. Lot of confused people wondering what got into us. Just appreciate a good song, I guess.

@PAULLONDEN Actually, I give them respect for taking influence from great artists like Hawkwind. In fact, they are the reason I know about Hawkwind. You see, on the album 'Monolithic, Baby!' they covered the Robert Calvert track "The Right Stuff." And that's how I went on to listen to Robert Calvert, then Hawkwind. It's all a matter of perspective really. No need to diss them when they're just making the music they love. :3c

I never tire of this one--and the entire album as a whole is always in heavy rotation. My guess is that this one and others were penned years before they were ever released on Spine of God--DUES PAID IN SPADES.

Nod Scene - Monster Magnet [Red Bank, New Jersey] - 1992 - "Dave Wyndorf's gravelly vocals stand out on this Stoner Metal song, and John McBain's guitar riffs are very spacey. Good first impression." - Spine of God [Bonus Track] [Import Germany] (Steamhammer)-2006. REVIEW excerpt by Jason Ankeny (allmusic): "The metal album for people who hate metal albums. ...a brilliant satire of headbanger culture so pitch perfect that it's almost tempting to take it at face value.

Goodballs are what heroin addicts used to take when they were sick and couldn’t get dope back in the day ! I read about using them in a William Burroughs book and he’s talking about reading old school playboy mag when women had hairy bushes etc the song talks about rolling joints and breaking up weed separating the seeds and stems, that what u did back in the day and u would do that in the center of an album when u open it up and the seeds would fall to the center where the binder when u tilted the one side ( bought another copy of zoso is a zeppelin bootleg album and fragile was a yes album )

I always thought it was cool how when you started this CD, you began rolling, and by the time you got to this one, it was ready to light. Or did I just have really good timing?

1) I am high on dope, forget about life 2) I'm Stoned, What you Gonna Do About it? 3) Tab 4) Spine of God This order. The best MM releases. Nod Scene is the best MM track. Everything after "Dopes to Infinity" sucked. Appealing to the mainstream did MM no good. Bull God forever.

Who would waste his time on this ,when there are these great albums of Hawkwind to explore ? No one touches the original Masters Of The Universe. Lame wannabee space rock..Good businessmen though, they noticed a place in the market for this stuff, especialy for those that never heard the originators.☆

@@adolpholiverbush2 6 months late but oh well. This dumbass is either trolling or ignorant (I can't tell). besides that, this album wasn't really space rock like Hawkwind. Spine of God was pure drugged out psychedelia which is NOT space rock. Not the same. just pointing that out. bye!
