You can talk about Radiohead, Wilco, all the big grunge era bands, even QOTSA, none of them really hit like Dave does as Monster Magnet. There's so much space in the music, and it has so much cosmicism, and a winking, devil may care attitude that is deeply humorous and absurd. It's perfect, heady rock and roll, without pretense.

"Milking The Stars is a "re-imagined" version of Last Patrol featuring four new songs and live tracks. It's not a re-mix record by the current definition. It's more like Last patrol in a "what if?" style alternative reality." - Dave Wyndorf Get a copy here: shop.napalmrecords.com/monstermagnet

I don't care what it is--I'm gettin' a copy...gotta say though, I think The Last Patrol's mix really sucked. Very flat & not very lush at all. I guess ya spoiled me with all your other albums. Ever gonna re-release the early stuff like "Poster" or anything from that era?
@stuartjenkins303910 жыл бұрын
Got it. Prefer it to the original Last Patrol. I've loved MM since Spine Of God came out, but I thought that Last Patrol, with the exception of 2 tracks sounded utterly jaded, like a band just going through the motions. This at least sounds like Dave and the boys are enjoying what they're playing.
@AncientSlugThrower9 жыл бұрын
Stuart Jenkins Given Dave's lyrics in his songs, it makes sense to feel like a great deal of the album was phoned in. It has it's gems like this one and Last Patrol, but on the whole, it isn't as strong an album as their previous endeavors. I can't help but think Dave's new found sobriety plays a large part of that.

I've been a MM fan since the early 90's & I never understood why they weren't huge after Dopes to Infinity & especially Powertrip...instead bands like Third Eye Blind & Matchbox 20 blew up which sucked cuz I've never liked happy smiling wussy bands...I guess things happen that way sometimes
@jamessharpe32626 жыл бұрын
Pig Ford...AMEN to that, MM should have been huge. Most of my favorite bands were never mainstream anyway. I think the 90s produced some of the best music in the last 50 years. These things tend to run in 30 years Cycles. You had the 60s, then you had the 90s. I can't wait to see what the 20s is going to be all about.

im picking on you because of the date you commented as of one month hoping its not too late for you to read this ..check the history of japan being nuked .. i dont remember which of the two cities it was but at ground zero there is an archway that is still standing in the debris field untouched , no damage , not even a scratch , no discoloration of smoke , looks brand new , and its never been restored ..it all about some ancient japanese religion dating back some 3000 years ago .could be the age of this archway ..and also there is a story of a young girl who survived ground zero who died only a few years ago ..now i dont believe in hocus pocus voodoo or black magic ..so there has to an answer for all this magic to have happened ..if you are curious as Dr Spock used say but not logical ..it might pay your time to further investigate ..is the girl in the video the girl who survived ? does the car driving into the debris field in this video look too modern to be of the time of the bombing ? and is monster magnet a magnet of monsters ? i think so

Markku...Well Hell Yeahhh!!! Monster Magnet Rocks from back way back in the day!!🤘🎸😎Last Patrol is the ninth studio album by the American Stoner Rock Band Monster Magnet. Dave Wyndorf describes the album “as return to our roots in terms of vibe and recording style. It’s full-on psychedelic space-rock with a 60’s garage feel, recorded almost exclusively with Vintage guitars, amps and effects in our hometown of Red Bank, New Jersey.” Last Patrol was released on 15 October 2013. The Members of Monster Magnet in 2013 were: Guitarist & Keyboardist & Vocalist: Dave Wyndorf, Bassist & Guitarist: Phillip Caivano, Guitarist & Sitarist: Garrett Sweeny, and Percussionist: Bob Pantella. “The Duke of Supernature” was written by Dave Wyndorf and Phil Caivano. It rocks and it is really cool. Brings back memories from the 1990’s like “Space Lord” from 1998. Yeahhhh! I remember that song! Rock on! Hahaha! Good Memories!😁🤘-Moderator-🎸

Ever since Last Patrol, they've really gotten a bit of their trippy sound back that they hadn't had much of since Dopes to Infinity. I'm glad they realized that Mastermind was way too bland, and Cobras and Fire fixed it x10. They've never made any outright bad albums though.
