Best musical soundtrack of all monster truck videos by far in my opinion. Gets me hyped every time!

I’m only 18 years old and I gotta say these monster trucks got more charisma that the monster trucks today. I grew with max d grave digger you know the rest, but the retro ones look way nicer that the ones we have today. kinda looks like toys but badass toys. You can tell they had legit fun doing these competitions, crush, tearing a car appart (i didn’t know), mud racing, racing and pulling a sled. They also did some of these competitions outside. it would have been special era to live in. But today is not that bad too. I can happily enjoy watching those tapes anytime I want to rather than going out and renting a tape.

There's a grainy audience shot video of the first public appearance bigfoot made at the silverdome in 1983, where he did his car crushing exhibition and the crowd went so crazy that they invaded the floor of the stadium just to see the truck up close. Bob Chandler has said that he had to turn the engine off lie down on the floor of the cab and hide the keys for the entire 15 minutes it took for security too clear the floor because he thought someone was going to try and steal the truck.

So many really nice all steel bodied, pre tube chassis trucks!! I liked Outlaw '35 the most. The just look nicer than today's trucks.

Sadly last I saw it's been left to rot in the middle of the woods all faded with the engine removed 😢

Born in '86 and I used to watch this and Bigfoot in Action 1 religiously when I was a kid. The trucks back then were built from the ground up using actual pickup trucks. There were no turn-key trucks or chassis packages you could buy back in these days, so each monster truck seemed to have it's own personality. The sport does indeed seem to be missing the originality of the 80s.

I think what's missing to me is the square bodies shorter wheelbases and chunkier tires

This event here looks like a fairgrounds Circus show. Instead of clowns and various animals doing things, is another type of novelty. Which seized to be a novelty and transformed into a competitive show. These early monster trucks couldn't do anything the present day ones are doing. That stiff suspension would lead to an instant disassembly on their first jump. Is a slow but steady evolution over time of these beasts to get where we are today 40 years later, seeing as how Grave Digger celebrated it last year.

@ 20:27 that lady Paula Harbuck flipped over Fred Shafer's "Bearfoot" monster truck right around this same time, maybe the prior season. It was in War of the Monster Trucks. I was surprised to see her here involved in mud racing.
