I was deleting some old posts and ran across this one about "Monster Mash". It is definitely slightly different. More clearly enunciated, different inflections and speed of singing. Anyway, I also believe this song came out twice and was a hit both times. I also think the same about Chubby Checker's version of "The Twist": twice a hit if not number one both times.

Kirsten and Lyric, I'm 63 and I imagine I have a few years on you. I listened to the song again and discounting all the extraneous noise they've added, I can say: it's not the same song. Kind of close but this song, I understand all the words. The original; I was never quite sure with the Karloff accent what he was singing in some places. I remember it from when it came out in 1962.
