EXACTLY the movie I was thinking about, in my top three. I've had the oppurtunity to tangle with one of these guys controlled by erik, was a tough battle and of course it got away!

I like going against traditional alignment roles and running redemption arches. Imagine using a Rakshasa as a Machiavellian archetype, manipulating political leaders from the shadows to affect positive change.

I think my favorite part of this creature is that they seek revenge and remember their past experiences. I love the idea that my characters parents/grandparents might have defeated it in the past, and now that it has returned to our plane of existence it is "hell's" bent on revenge. It is very powerful, so its perfect for characters who have leveled up and are feeling indestructible. Outstanding choice for this monster Monday.

Thanks Aaron. I agree - huge potential for using Rakshasa in a long -running campaign, as a recurring villain.

Yup, I knew you were going to say Predator when you asked if we were thinking about the same movie that you were thinking of. 😅I think one good way to use this monster is to have it trying to start a war between two neighboring kingdoms so they take each other out or weaken each other to the point where the Rakshasa can take over. But the two kingdoms have never had any problems with each other in the past, so both sides kind of suspect that there might be someone trying to manipulate them into turning on each other. So the party is asked to investigate and find out who is behind this plot to turn the two kingdoms against each other.
