B I like JDs as they generally are well and tough built but the Fendt Vario gearbox is simply the best cvt gearbox. Every other manufacturer including JD is trying copy it but it isn‘t nearly as smooth as the Vario. Also, I prefer european diesel engines. You americans make some bulletproof and reliable engines but in terms of fuel consumption, cold start behaviour and torque, american engine builders should take a look over the pond sometimes...

Too short of a chain on the sled so it was not riding on the ground put a long chain on and i bet you could stop it easy

@@josebarber22 no, chain length needs to be a certain length for regulation pulling. Sled operator sets resistance of the sled by moving weight box forward faster or slower and position of belly pan to create more or less drag. First pull of each machine was at "light" setting, second pull of each machine was at a "heavy" setting. 535 might have gone full pull second time if differentials had been locked.

1- these were obviously 2 different events. It's two different tracks. Duh 2- most of these had the drawbars waaaay too high 3- the Case IH and the New Holland are basically the same machine. Both owned by Fiat and the same basic tractor, just different odd & ends and the plastics. Built on the same line in Fargo ND. 4- the Fendt claims it puts out a shade over 500 hp (at the engine) but won't really say drawbar hp. The QuadTrac has a 600 hp power plant and makes 476 at the drawbar. 5- the Case has about 9% slippage while the Fendt gets upwards of 25% the heavier the tug 6- Fendt gets better fuel economy (but if you factor in slippage. . . ?)

@@BRPFan Its because our width restrictions. Vehicle can be only 3 meters wide, while on the road, so we transport the duals with some other vehicle and then put them on, right in the field.

Well the Fendt is the Cadillac of tractors, yes, my favorite... but the 1050 is at or over the limit of conventional tractor horsepower, it just isn't going to weigh enough to put that 517hp or more on the ground. Four wheeled and dual tracks cant do it much over the 500hp either, hence the current 3 600+hp quadtrac tractors....

To the contrary, my old boss trialled a 10 series fendt, liked it, but it was too heavy for the application. 3rd generation farmer still on the family ground. Went with th 390 instead.
