why do some people try and pull with skinny tires, the wider the tire the more ground you will cover and be able to lay the power down with

Because there’s two types of tug-o-war competitors. Some that like to be heavy with wide tires and traction and give it their all to pull the other backwards. Those types of guys typically aren’t the funnest to watch and they consider themselves winning only if they pull the other truck backwards. Then there’s a second type of competitor that doesn’t care what they weigh or how wide or big their tires are. Those types only care about hyping the crowd up and basically doing a rowdy burnout and letting their engine do the talking instead of their traction and weight. They consider themselves winning if the crowd is amped up during and after their match. If pull the other truck backwards it’s just a bonus. Our crew is part of the second group.
