Monstercat November 2023 Ranking

One of the best months of the year in my opinion. Lot of solid returns and of course, a FOOL dominated top 10 with his Machine LP.

I think this is by far the best month for instinct this year. Not only did it have 5 releases instead of the usual 4, but it also kinda moved away from that generic house style & also, haywyre returned!

Fang is definitely an acquired taste for DnB, but man, Take 2 is waaaaaay too low.

Sharks or Chime should've been credited in #15 with Skybreak and the Drops kinda reminds me of Disciple cause of the drops and #15 also has a cute Monstercat Instinct reference of Pixel Terror and Emeline which that has been my best reference since the 2Nite reference 11 months ago.

alright month so far but a big step down from October my fav would definitely be that insane fall apart remix I am also looking forward for the Remix LP and I heard thats its dropping today which is fantastic

25. 6.5/10, I saw this coming. I think it's a big step up from WAR. I'm sensing a theme with Nostalgix. 24. 3/10, My least favorite of the month. I think this proves that neurofunk, for the most part, is not for me. 23. 7.5/10, Yeah, not Slippy's best, but some really good elements here. 22. 7/10, Yes, this might be generous. Yes, her vocal mixing could be better. But you know what? I think I'm a sucker for jersey club. 21. 7.5/10, Grew off me since first listen, but conceptually, this is more my cup of tea. 20. 7/10, I want to say it. I really do... I think Conro pulled a Bad Computer here. Still good, but not his best. 19. 4.5/10, I'm really surprised this isn't rock bottom for you. Sure the drops are intense, but why are there vocals on top of it? 18. 6.5/10, Big step down from Infortunii. 17. 6.5/10, This... is a Tokyo Machine track. Don't really have a strong opinion on it. 16. 7/10, Hot take: I might be more excited for Just a Gent than I am for Haywyre. Some elements feel dated here, but we have progressive trance for the first time in a while. 15. 8/10, Breaks are amazing, but yeah, it isn't even Skybreak's best. 14. 6/10, The trap and riddim drops are good, but the speed house drop is pretty bad. 13. 8/10, How do we get Blanke and Skybreak in the same month? Not Blanke's best, but still quite good. 12. 6/10, May have grown on me since first listen. 11. 3.5/10, I can't stand the lead here. 10. 7/10, Pretty good for some melodic D&B. 9. 6.5/10, Don't get me wrong, I think this new Haywyre run can impress me eventually, but it just doesn't here. 8. 6/10, Either you're a bit generous or I'm a bit harsh here. I don't think it's that memorable. 7. 4.5/10, I just hate how oversaturated techno has been elsewhere. This one isn't terrible, but it's pretty unintriguing. 6. 6.5/10, This specific drop is pretty cool, but that's about it. 5. 7/10, The riddim/tearout/I don't know exactly what it is, but it is pretty emphatic. The hard techno is a nice switchup too. 4. 5.5/10, Better than Droid, but still meh. 3. 5.5/10, Eh, this one might grow on me. 2. 5.5/10, Don't care for phonk, but at least it's longer than 2 minutes. 1. 7/10, Best of the Machine LP, and probably a deserved number 1. Better than October, and it might have been the best month Instinct has had in a while.

Okay, hear me out: #25: This song grew on me a ton since release. While the vocals are not great, the production is certainly a step up from WAR, which was uninteresting. I'm not so sure if I should be hyped for her "Star City" EP in 2024, but it's great imo. 8/10 #24: Nope 4/10 #23: I mean... cool? ?/10 #22: That does not sound good. Moss and Example did better imo. 3/10 #21: It's incredibly boring. The Nerds have lost it imo. 5/10 #20: I haven't listened to this yet, so... ?/10 #19: Oh wow, the vocals are awful. It sounds like Eminem screaming the song with not very good production. 1/10 #18: This song also grew on me since release. I feel like he played it safe here, but it goes hard. That breakbeat drop right after the first drop is so satisfying to listen to, and that SECOND drop. OH MY GOSH. Sorcerer's Symphony will be an amazing EP. 10/10 #17: Hey, at least it's better than AUTOMATIC, but I'm still not on board quite yet. ?/10 #16: Well, I did not see this coming. I guess with all the returns happening this year, I guess we could expect Eptic to return (not saying it's guaranteed, but hey, it could happen.) As for the song, I mean it's decent. 6/10 #15: YES. It reminds me a lot of his Disciple release "Waterfall" which is also really good. I love the drops so much. This might just be me being a sucker for color bass, but hey, it's really good. 9/10 #14: It's cool. 6/10 #13: I said this over on BaysidePark's discord server, but this song is great. The vocals are top notch, and the verse production is really good. However, I just wish the drops weren't as basic. 7/10 #12: It's also cool. Hayve's double single was very boring this month. I'm sorry. 6/10 #11: I haven't listened to this yet. ?/10 #10: I mean, it's not better than Burbank Nights, but Micah Martin slays here. #9: The return of Haywyre made everyone go absolutely crazy, and I think this preview here is awesome, but I still haven't listened yet. ?/10 #8: It's okay. 5/10 #7: It's also okay. 5/10 #6: The most Midtempo song ever. Decent. 6/10 #5: I don't like it. The first verse is sped up, and it bombed it for me really bad. It didn't help that there was an out of place riddim drop where it disposes of the melody and exceeds to try and go hard. The drop that sounds like a baby version of Bossfight's "Fake" was done poorly (the only part I actually enjoyed), and this tanked like crazy. I'm sorry Renz, this one is terrible for me personally. 2/10 #4: Nice, F.O.O.L. 6/10 #3: They nailed the vibe here. As F.O.O.L' s first instinct song, this is phenomenal. The song is a vibe and a half. 9/10 #2: By far my favorite song in the album. The mixture between midtempo and phonk meshes so well and is overall a great song. 10/10 #1: I was caught off guard by this song, but this goes unbelievably hard. 10/10 Overall, nice month for monstercat. A few artists suprised me this month as well as some hitting the marks, not completely though. But yeah.

Not the best month of the year, but September is my fav Monstercat month in 2023 Almost no bad songs (expect Droid, Lost My Way and Fall Apart remix) The next month is already with remixes/VIPs
