Ever wanted to know what a rider sees when traveling at speeds of over 200mph around the Isle of Man TT? Here, we go onboard with 13-time TT winner and current outright lap record holder Peter Hickman for a lap around the awesome 37.73-mile track.
The 37-year old raised the outright lap record to an eye-popping average speed of 136.358mph in the 2023 Superstock TT and scored four victories in each of the past two years. No surprise, he’s favorite to rack up further victories in this year’s event. So go onboard with ‘Hicky’ and see the TT circuit at ludicrous speeds from his point of view!

Note to editor - if you keep swapping camera angles every 2 or 3 seconds, it really interupts the flow of the viewing experience. What the racers do here is god-level stuff. At least let us see what they see for more than a couple of seconds at a time and put the secondary views as PIP please.

Love watching things like the drive chain undulate as he modulates the power, the front wheel lifting at various points, deep-cutting corners, and keeping this machine 'on the boil' 99% of the time! Not king of the mountain yet, he clearly has the potential, but I thought that with David Jeffrey's and Ian Hutchinson, didn't happen for those 2. Also Pete got his first win aged 31, when MD was 30 he had 19 wins and they have been sharing wins since then. Out of interest when Joey and John McG were 30, they had 2 wins each, so all is not lost for PH, although MD is exactly 2 years younger and Davy Todd is due a few wins.

This is a cautious lap from Pete, visibly slower than his 136 mph lap record, last night when the course was deemed too dangerous for racing for the Supertwins, MD did a 128mph on his stocker, I understand why we no longer have wet/damp races, but ifwe did MD would have about 40 TT's by now. The perfect conditions even out the field, Michael would race on a bike just out of the crate on a wet track. I recall the very wet 250cc race won by Joey, he was the only rider to manage a 100mph lap. They are just insanely brave/skilful.

@oneviperbite
@oneviperbite 4 ай бұрын
It's called GP shift, and many street bikes now come with the option to change the direction if you want to. Many racers / track day enthusiasts prefer GP shift because it's faster and more efficient to push down for an up gear change when you're leaned over and off the bike accelerating out of the corner instead of having to compromise on body position to be able to reach under the shifter to grab and upwards gear change. When you're hard on the brakes and decelerating, you tend to be more upright on the bike, therefore making reaching underneath the gear lever for the downshift easier.
