@@ZiggyMandarr That would've been such a cool twist ending. I loved a lot of ToTK, but the story was just straight up annoying and stupid at times. Nintendo team shouldve made it more serious like Twilight Princess. Not making it linear or closing anything off, but just by changing it would've made so many fans happy. I can't help but feel like ToTK will fall behind BoTW in the future. It reall should've been a DLC.

@chooongusbug7249 ай бұрын
Also, the Zonai architecture wasn't really changed, what we saw in Faron was explained in TotK as something the Hylians made to show their respect to the Zonai that came before them. That's learned through the Typhlo Ruins quest. And we see the same Zonai architecture that's in TotK in BotW with the Zonai towers all over Hyrule (those stone pillars with chests on top)

I feel that theres more actual mystery and things to get your mind racing with the original teaser, and sure thats probably because it was literally the only thing we had to go off of, compared to the final game where a lot of the theorizing has to do with trying to make sense of conflicting and maybe even somewhat thoughtless elements and how they connect to existing lore/worldbuilding

If they crossed that bridge right before the game started, and that would've been the last they had the dondon, then perhaps the scenes with the dondon merely took place right before the game started? This would be a weird choice though, especially with how the dondon quests later act like Link has never seen one before... Despite Zelda having discovered & ridden them & Link staying by Zelda's side most of the time, so even without those scenes Link should've already known about them...
@thephalange86309 ай бұрын
I wish that was the only time Link is clueless and others around him too. Hestu? We meet Hestu and he's surprised we can see him, like BotW never happened... If you, like me, have discovered the memories (out of order and spoiled myself, but ok) and Link finds out alongside you, that Zelda is a dragon and Ganondorf used Zelda's image as an illusion, then Link should not stay silent and be surprised when fake Zelda roams around, why doe she not tell anyone? @swigglyforce52159 ай бұрын
I actually think the entrance that was cut from the final game that was in the trailer might have been the entrance to the room with the bridge, because they are almost identical, the main difference is just that the final games one has the more angular style zonai architecture. Also the shot of zelda looking at the murals on the wall is identical to a different shot from what you used in that same cutscene, the only difference is its flipped. And i believe the shot of zelda turning around and gasping may be an early version of the shot where malice shoots at Zelda.

You might be onto something there!

I still wish they didn’t cut most of the intro. I think the intro in 2019 looked really good I also would’ve rather it be just a cut thing instead of it forcing you to play it because it’s a little stupid it tells you link go forward. Wait link stop why not just make that a cut thing it’s pretty annoying
@blakelandry93139 ай бұрын
And here is my rewrite for the intro the game starts off with link Zelda riding their dodongo down some staircases they look at that weird text at the bottom of the staircase and move on we get a few camera, shots of them, exploring the cave and ruins then they make it to a giant temple they walk up the stairs to it and enter, where they must go down a bunch of staircase which then once they’re down there, they have to cross the bridge but their animal does not want to cross, so forced to cross the rest of the way without it the rest of the cut scene would be pretty similar to how the game did, but and so will just be a full on cut scene Then the rest of the changes will be once they get to the ceiling room I would also do a few of those camera shots that the trailer did and then that’s about it
@MonsterMaze9 ай бұрын
I agree. Zelda usually doesn't do those types of interactive cutscenes where you walk, stop, talk, repeat etc. It feels a bit out of place. The only interactive element I would've appreciated during the intro would be a preordained boss fight against Ganondorf, which you'll lose no matter what. It would make you feel more hopeless against him, since you'll experience it through gameplay ^^

man I just feel like the game lost it's magic every trailer after this one. I remember when E3 2021 came along, I felt disappointed that the game was going a different direction that the first trailer made me feel. I feel like the final intro sequence totally undersold compared to the concept they had in 2019. visuals just look less polished (things I noticed in particular are how the hand swirl looks worse because it's just a clean spiral with no organic form, and looks like a zig-zag from the side, as well as the gloom attacking link not being effected by distance fog and therefore looking very out of place). it was a cool game but I just feel like it did not really care about being satisfying from the perspective of all the mysteries this trailer and breath of the wild built up.

I paused about 2/3 of the way through the video to offer some speculation I have about the change in the Zonai architecture. At one point, Rauru talks of how they created the constructs to aid them in their endeavors, but after a time the constructs became so good at it they just ended up doing everything. Maybe the more uh, organic-looking ruins were made by Zonai hands, and what it was changed to was made by the constructs? As repairs were needed, the constructs were the ones to do it; there'd be a change in the architecture if this was the case, especially if they weren't capable of the same designs the Zonai themselves were. The Zonai as a society wouldn't have been too willing to hold onto "more traditional" ways of doing things as their technology advanced. I'm sure there probably were members of the general populace that would have wanted to do things the old way, probably entire communities of them, but it wouldn't have been relevent to the TOTK lore for the devs to include it, especially if their civilisation was on the decline (or freshly gone) by the time Zelda went back in time. Whether or not Rauru was aware of possible pockets of "traditionalists" among his race, I'm going to assume that maybe they had all faded and died before his birth, their ways dying with them. Or, if they didn't, he may not have had sufficient interaction with them for him to consider it noteworthy enough in comparison to what he grew up with, so he wouldn't have mentioned it. We might have a lot to chew on regarding Zonai society, but it's still not really enough to figure out what their "usual way" was - stuff that was so ordinary to them that there would be no record of it anywhere because that was how things were and they never expected it to change. 100000% agree with "secret stones" being one of the absolute dumbest names for an item and actually affected many scenes because it was just so stupid.

I genuinely hope the 2019/2020 story is revealed somehow, even so long after the trailer I’m still so curious about just how different it would be
@DigitalXAddict9 ай бұрын
Honest opinion: The original is still better. But that's not on you, that's on Nintendo and marketing in general. You did a great job tho. You yourself even explained very well what limits you were given. Great job under those circumstances. The final game had so many scenes removed or objects/particles changed/downgraded, that it would be impossible to reach the same quality.

Nintendo, you do realize that a lot of people will purchase DLC if you just add a motion to Link to pet the dogs. Then the next wave of DLC you can have the dogs chase after the boomerang.

I am so utterly disappointed in how they ruined the 2019 teaser in the actual game. The trailer actually had a feeling of mystery and horror, even the little details like the rat being killed by malice and the Zonai ruins actually looking like they belonged underground. Even the detail of Link wearing his Hylian hood in the trailer. In the game he doesn't wear the damn hood in the first 10 minutes and yet Zelda does!? Why Nintendo!? Plus they changed the ruins, removed all animals, and the iconic Ganondorf neck snap was just lame compared to the 2019 trailer. It's so sad to see what is now a iconic and beautifully made trailer get done so dirty in the actual game. Those first 10 minutes literally killed my interest when I first played the game, thankfully some things like the great sky island helped regain my interest, but it didn't last long until I once again lost interest, I got so bored that I completed all 152 shrines within less than a month and on June 12th I purposely went to Ganondorf to beat the game because it felt like the game had nothing else to offer, and sadly. It didn't

remember when we thought _”The Sequel to Breath of the Wild”_ was going to be dark and spooky and weird? sad.
@MonsterMaze9 ай бұрын
Yup. To be fair though, that was mostly because fans completely misinterpreted Aonuma's words. People held onto the idea that the game was going to be "darker than Majora's Mask", while in reality, the guy never said that. Still, I would've liked the game more had it been a bit darker.

I like this concept of returning to past theories! For instance, there was so much hype around, “what do these characters mean?” Or “what are they saying in the music near Ganon?” That I would love to re-explore.
@orange_turtle34128 ай бұрын
I remember when people got so desperate for info that they started breaking down the trailer like it was a fnaf game. People would reverse the weird audio and bullshit that it was saying “help us” or something, or try to translate the zonai symbols using the gerudo script, etc. In reality, I think its always been clear that there was never any hidden meaning to the trailers, but at the time it was fun to pretend like there was. That it was some big mystery we were supposed to figure out that would give us clues to the story (a story that probably barely even existed at the time)
@savaget20589 ай бұрын
After 6 years there really should be more content they could've cobbled together for some additional story DLC. It's sad, but for me the hype generated by the initial teaser was never fully realized in the final release. I would genuinely love to see a different studio's take on Zelda or even a new director at the very least. Zelda needs more intimate storytelling, for me that was the biggest draw when playing Ocarina of Time as a teenager. The exploration was only so exciting because the atmosphere had been set by all the story beats and of course the amazing soundtrack ❤

You did a good job recreating it, but for me the final build version just feels lack luster compared to the original teaser. That's on the game though, wish they kept some of the more visually interesting assets.. and the original neck crack, I didn't realize how much that added to that scene until I watched the soft version in game.

Very well done video!!! I love the end result!!! There’s so much from the original trailer that I think could’ve improved the game itself, but hey Nintendo still did a good job with the final opening scene. I look forward to future videos either like this or just more Zelda talk!

I think you're right about the Secret Stones not being a thing when the teaser was made. They probably had the concept of how the Sages would work down, but I'd guess the Secret Stones was thought up primarily to give Ganondorf a motive that wouldn't involve the Triforce.

or maybe the secret stone looked literally like stones (so circular like that jewel on cgi ganondorf). From what they said through interview, the gameplay is always the first thing they make regarding a game, then comes the scenario once they have a solid base. Thought maybe this time they drafted some ideas like zonai, secret stones, time travel, dragon (btw it's quite strange how similar the scenario seems to be compared to the wano arc in one piece)

So I just thought of a possible plot hole. Why didn't anybody, like the sages, think to destroy the secret stone in Ganondorf's head while he was in his imprisoned state? Like, chisel it out of his forehead and SMASH! No more Demon King! Hyrule is saved!

Probably because none of them wanted to risk disturbing the seal by even so much as *touching* the big guy. I mean, would you want to be the one to risk releasing the man who almost destroyed your homeland? They were clearly willing to build around the seal, but not touch it, which likely means they didn't want to risk it.
@Karuminu29 ай бұрын
@@Hairo-rv9kl But if the dark secret stone could be somehow destroyed by means other than the Master Sword, like, maybe strike it with Sacred Arrows of Light? Some way to safely shatter it from a distance? Also they learned of the existence of the Master Sword from Zelda. Couldn't they have searched for the Master Sword from their timeline that hadn't yet been broken and have a worthy hero from their time use it to strike into Ganondorf's secret stone, like Link did at the end of TotK? The Master Sword had to exist back then since this takes place after Hyrule's founding, after the events of Skyward Sword when the Master Sword was first born from the Goddess Sword (Or at least that's one theory when in the timeline that takes place.).

It also seems that the bridge and the spring section have switched places. We see the animal drink at the spring and refuse to cross the bridge. Yet in-game, the bridge comes before the spring. So either those segments are out of order in the teaser, the animal made it over the bridge, or they got swapped for the game. As for the hands reaching each other; look at the background. It's static, which indicates there is no up- or downward movement. Which excludes a fall IMO and indicates Link helping Zelda up somewhere. Also: if she was falling down, her hand couldn't go/reach upwards. Her total movement, even when reaching for Link, would be net downward. Besides: we know he didn't catch her. I think it's a deliberate red herring to lead us astray, making us believe he caught her, but leaving enough hints for us to notice it's a different scene, as to not outright lie. Well done recreation, especially the rat part lol.

The 2019 trailer makes me wonder what was the original plan for the Zonai, they clearly sticked with the Zonai from Faron which were "barbarians", even the seal site seems more natural compare to the one in the final game and overall every Zonai related thing was more "prehistoric" than what we got, so it really makes me wonder, what was the original plan with the Zonai? Instead of the Zonai we got, what was the "OG" version with the "barbarians" from Faron ? Love the rat you added, it fixes the whole trailer and make it perfect
@hued25429 ай бұрын
It should’ve been a barbaric species of reptilians that are championing ganondorfa return. Every enemy except for moblins have become a series staple tribe in hyrule but it seems Nintendo has never been keen lizalfos getting there own domain in hyrule. This game would’ve been a perfect set up to have the dudes be a underground dwelling race. Maybe two factions one that wants to reunite above and the other hell bent on ruling both the surface and underground
@GigantoGaming8019 ай бұрын
I don't think they would champion ganondorf's return or worship ganondorf, they still seems to be against him, Rauru's arm is still there on the 2019 trailer and it's still Zonai, so i think the early Zonai that was likely (for me) planned for botw and the "OG TOTK" was the "barbaric" tribe against Ganondorf, for everything, it will be unknown i guess.@@hued2542

The biggest disappointment about what was cut comes from about 2 milliseconds of footage from the original trailer: That damn oldschool Zelda 1-looking Labyrinth Door. The depths DESPERATELY needed something like those oldschool dungeons that were gauntlets of difficult enemies and puzzles.
