My understanding of the Anti-Age-of-Sigmar crowd is that they're mostly people that GW drove off with how poorly the transition from Warhammer Fantasy was handled. GW basically said, "Warhammer Fantasy is over," and went radio silent, so entrenched players lost their minds. After months of nothing, GW released a pamphlet of unbalanced and asurd rules for the new game with "definitely not Space Marines" as the headline faction. Now, Age of Sigmar has matured into an interesting fantasy setting. It's funny, the difference in animation quality between the 40k episodes and the AoS ones almost mirrors the quality of the games themselves.

What's really interesting about Stormcast (and what, in my humble opinion, makes them more interesting than Space Marines) is that they are made up of repented Chaos worshippers as well. In Plague Garden, we meet a Stormcast who was once a Champion of Nurgle who got smacked with Ghal Maraz so hard he got turned into a Stormcast, and we saw his perspective on Chaos and how its insidious nature doesn't just warp the body but also the mind. He gives a good argument that most people who worship Chaos aren't irredeemable, and many could be saved if you came out of them from a different angle. Truly interesting stuff.

I wanna see Tornus get his own novel where they expand on that. I would bring in Ushkar Mir from the Call of Archaon anthology who became Khornate so he could climb the ranks and kill Khorne. He got the short end of every stick and I would love to see him make a comeback. I'd love to write him myself even more, make his redemption really compelling.

The beast is most likely a chaos spawn. In lore chaos spawn are champions of chaos who received too many gifts (mutations, magic, etc) from the chaos gods that they become an abomination of nature and go mad. Not one chaos spawn will ever look the same as another. Also in lore some tribes worship a chaos spawn for they are the true forms of chaos given form, even though they can be just as dangerous to tribe that worship them.

Scylla Anfingrimm is a named Chaos Spawn of Khorne that is cherished by Khorne himself and is basically like a pet. Khorne himself broke him out of one of Tzeentch’s mazes to unleash him onto the realms after the End Times. And he still garners gifts from Khorne.

So from my understanding unlike the 40K chaos worshippers the mortal realm residents who worship chaos retain more sanity and reason. It makes sense since they are the ones flooded by chaos against their will and they have incorparated the chaos into their culture thus being more stable. But 40K chaos worshippers are not flooded by chaos or forcibly incorparated it as their culture. They cling to chaos out of spite or anger against the unjust universe. It's not a culture but a symbol of anarchy and hate to them. So that makes them less stable, maniac daemon worshippers. Most of the 40K chaos worshippers would find that monster beatiful instead of calling it "thing".

So essentially sense AoS and fantasy takes place in a smaller setting then 40k. The chaos gods are less powerful and thus there influence is lesser on the minds of their servants

Not every one, mind you. in Lorgar: Bearer of the Word, we get an idea of how a planet that worships the Dark Gods is like. They refer to them by different names and you have folks like Kor Phaeron who gives off the kind of sermon you would expect from a zealous priest during Sunday service without the wanton slaughter and killing.

I understand that lots of people love Fantasy as it was an amazing universe. And it is true that GW didn't end it well at all. However, I really think in my humble opinion that a lot of the hate towards AoS (as a universe in itself) is not always justified. The AOS setting is like Darksun...the problem is that the actual lore does not emphasize this enough.The realms are actually a Sea of chaos with a few Order cities here and there.

Which could can also represent the loss as spoken in the show, as wendigos are humans who devoured human flesh when food was harsh during the winter months as some Native American stories recall how they ate leather and boiled bones and drank the broth from the bones and how some ate moldy food in desperation as slowly the people around you start falling asleep and never waking up or some coming in time to feed them but by making the mistake of feeding them too much that their stomachs rip open and die

So the freeguild general was allowed to get away, either she'll tell the palladors this particular tribe isn't a priority problem. (Yes the free guild lost but the marauder girl didn't appear to be drinking the kool aid as it were. ) or she spotted that chaos spawn & the whole forest is about to get an emergency visit from a storm host exemplar chamber looking for a chaos cult & not really caring who catches the half a billion volt public service announcement that heralds their arrival. A bunch of barbarians in the hills is inconvenient, a khornate warband on the other hand can be more of a problem particularly if they're rustling up blood letters & juggernauts every time you turn around.

Regarding the style and culture, The City Folk and the League of Order are not Medieval but Renaissance, as the later introduced the use of Full Plate armor and fire arms of both sizes into warfare. Also, Cannons or siege weapons in protected Wagons is also a Renaissance, and not steam punkish attribute.

That monster is likely an Incarnate Elemental of Beasts. They are summoned by beastman shamans or human druids/shaman. It is born from the magic of Ghur, the wind of magic associated with nature and beasts in the Warhammer fantasy lore. The resin model that GW used to make looks very similar. It has a quadripedal humanoid body with a horned skull head, tusks, antlers, clawsed feet and hooves They are not necessarily chaos-aligned monsters, so the darkoath chieftain likely found it or summoned it with the help of a shaman and has been giving it sacrifices to appease it. They probably don't know what it is or where it comes from exactly, but they know it's powerful so they worship it.

This may be a biased opinion but I think the hate for AoS is unjustified and seems more directed by fans of FB. AoS in my honest opinion feels more interesting than FB or perhaps even 40k because it has elements of both and still feels unique. I think a good plot for a Hammer & Bolter episode should involve the Flesh Eater Courts and their delusions of grandeur. I say this cuz Bound for Greatness did the psychological horror of Tzeentch well so they could pull off an episode like this too. A freeguild serf looking for her brother and finding a castle and knights and kings, like a twisted Cinderella story in a way.

I liked Fantasy more than i will ever like discount 40k (AOS). They did many well established characters dirty by allowing them to be written by people who clearly have zero knowlegde about the characters. Alot of well beloved legendary characters with armies were never even mentioned at all. Even if they were to rewrite End Times, the damage has been done imo. But honestly feels like GW takes alot of L's these days. Im only into warhammer because of lore because i dont believe the prices for table top are worth it, prices seem like a scam to me, and the fact that barely anyone in my country plays.

This is pretty close to how the Norscans behaved in the old Warhammer Fantasy setting, when there wasn't an Everchosen around to flock to. They just did Viking stuff and tried to survive, while equally worshipping and opposing the four gods of chaos.

A couple of follow up comments…First, I think you should definitely interject more tactical analyses. You made an excellent point regarding the need for a two person night watch, and I have little doubt that your military and law enforcement training gives you insights that many of your viewers, like myself, would love to hear. Second, I don’t know how many of your viewers have ever chopped wood, but unless those trees were dry balsa wood, there’s no way in hell that they would be cut so easily, especially by an arrow. i always thought the "monster" was a avatar of the horned rat (the skaven god) not only for the aesthetic/appearance but because of the fact that a champion of chaos wouldn't be so animalistic (i understand bloodthirsters would be somewhat of an exception to this but the "monster" didn't look khorne affiliated at all) and have some form of stratagems in place to go about their conquest of said realm that they have been summoned to and keep their followers, which many actual champions and greater daemons do to give themselves an army and allow true followers ascension into daemonhood and in turn giving strength to their god. my only thoughts as to why it would be an avatar of the horned rat and not chaos directly is that these marauders seem to worship chaos undivided and therefore not acquired more favour with one god or another due to lack of sacrifices. but idk probably wrong just a a thought XD

I'm sorry, but the battle was terribly stupid, the animations were good, the course of the battle and the story armor... terrible. I would prefer weaker animations and a well-written fight in which marauders would win with some clever ruse than blind luck and a level of accuracy on the enemy's side at the level of Star Wars stormtroopers. While I'm more neutral on Age of Sigmar I'm more a fan of classic fantasy because it's gritty low magic grimdark it doesn't have the same absurdity that 40k has and is much more relatable comparatively meanwhile A.o.S is so high magic that it doesn't have the grimdark feel that both fantasy and 40k have. And over all transition wasn't need they thought rebooting fantasy as A.o.S would boost it's popularity but it's lore wasn't fleshed out and the stormcasts being space marines with a fantasy coat of paint didn't help but ironically with the popularity of vermintide and total war fantasy has become more popular in death than it was in life so they bring back fantasy as Warhammer:The Old World.
