Monster's Inc. has one of the most nuanced environmental messages I've seen in any movie. So WHY is no one talking about it?

Came from Patrick villain video and am subscribing after seeing this vid. While I love long deep dives, these 10-15 min videos that also capture the entire essence of whatever you're talking about are so refreshing as well. Looking forward to more

Waternoose’s voice performance is so underrated, one of the best in the film, which is truly saying something

truly an amazing analysis. But the most meaningful thing to me is that all your videos have been clean. You would not believe how hard it is to find cartoon analysis content on youtube that doesnt have foul language. Thank you for being a legend and making content that i can truly feel safe watching. You dont know how much that means to me

This is a really good video. I like that season 2 of Monsters At Work kinda touched on this again though I don’t think it’s as great as the og movie. Which they showed many different alternative forms of power as well. Well monsters trying to prove their alternative forms of energy are better than screams. Edit: Also didn’t know that fracking can lead to more earthquakes. I knew it was bad i just didn’t know it could do that.

Funnily the monsters being scared of the kids is similar to how people are scared of nuclear power even though just like the kids if monitored and used respectfully it’s one of the best power sources

Except the source in the movie isn't actually harmful whereas in the real world, this energy source that's mostly heavily pushed by oil corporations to keep the conversation away from Solar and Wind and on a dangerous source that'd be a bad idea, so that the Oil companies stay in power while pretending not to stand in the way of moving on from oil to *actually viable and safe* sources. The energy source in the movie Would NOT obliterate the Monster's world if handled poorly.

YOu missed the mark, this movie is about ethical farming more than it is about green energy. The screams of the children dont cause pollution, they are however a depleting energy source since the kids grow numb towards scary things thanks to the modern age of media, an issue talked about in the movie. They dont know that laughter is a valid and stronger alternative while also costing literally 0 dollars in transition, unlike for us in the real world where its very expensive and takes up additional space to build up new energy plants. This movie is about how the monsters handle the livestock, kids, to generate their base line good, energy, with the diffrence of the children not being regarded as fuel. Thats why its possible that they only scare the same kid twice at maximum, hence the giant vault of doors. This can have simple reasons like "the parents might try to kill the monsters if we keep showing up to the same house" or "we dont want to let humans enter our world" up to ethical concerns, since all monsters seem to be reasonably compassionate being. The reason why they are all scared of direct human contact can be something very obvious that you probably rarely heard of: zoonosis. They treat human contact like a transmittable disease, like HIV and Ebola combined. There probably has been a case of a disease jumping from human to monster and causing a health crisis that forced the monsters to radically advance in medicine and combating contaminants, the reason why the yellow suits exist and do their thing with such efficiency. With vaccines in human culture and the monster science, this might be no longer a threat to either population, but still something plausible to have happened in the past. Waternoose is more like an animal farmer and not an oil shogun. This movie shows the leader of a company struggle with resource inavailability and come to the realization that malicious farming practices will secure the production of his base line good that his culture is based upon. If Waternoose would have been presented with laughter as a better alternative, the man would have jumped onto the idea like a rabid dog, but the pressure of the economy made the man go crazy with desperation. The end message of the movie is "compassion and patience may hield greater profits" than "go green even tho we have no pollution". Economic growth did not seem to be a thing in this movie, the issue with energy was the simple existance of the grid. Greed never appeared in this movie. Randle wanted revenge on his foes and to be better than them in society, he didnt do it for the money. Thats petty revenge and not greed.

I dont even know why you think pollution is an issue for the monsters, you have shown the clip of a guy eating literal garbage from the street after swooping it up in the video at least once.
