Lovely study! I rarely use oil pastels but I am hoping to change that as I’ve been a little obsessed with buying them lately😂 I like the Haiya? ones and the Caran D’ache ones but also own the lightwish and Sennelier ones. I really should start doing more!

I have been looking for a review of the Montmarte oil pastels, so thank you for this! I haven’t used the Montmarte or Lightwish, but I love my Mungyo Gallery oil pastels.

I was searching for this video.I am extremely glad to discover your channel and watching this video. Btw according to your video mont marte is softer than lightwish?

Thanks and welcome and the "Extra soft Mont Marte oil pastels" are slightly softer than the lightwish oil pastels where as the "signature Mont Marte oil pastels" are definitely harder oil pastels than the Lightwish. Hope this helps clear up the confusion. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Welcome to the MyArtCube community! :)

@@myartcube Mont Marte gives the designation "Premium" to their artist range, which is the category of the extra soft oil pastels. I tried both the "Premium" and "Signature" lines, and I much prefer the softer, Premium version. You would probably like the oil pastels by Soho Urban Artist. They are fabulous, but only have 72 colors. FYI - Mungyo has a metallic/neon set with 12 colors in each category for a total of 24. I have them, but haven't yet tried them. Great video!

@ivypearl2895 you have such great insight. I appreciate your sharing this useful info. Ture I've never tried Soho urban artist oil pastels. I'll keep an eye out for a good deal on a small set to try out. Thank you again for sharing Ivy :)

Hi there and welcome to the community :) I'm so glad you found the review useful! Please let me know if you have any questions about the set. Just an little extra info, I also really enjoy using the Lightwish/Kuelox oil classic pastel set as well as the Mungyo gallery oil pastels in case you've never tried those yet. I have other videos that demonstrate my use of those brands if you are trying to decide on which oil pastels best suite your needs :)

Wow your final product turned out amazing! I'm just starting my oil pastel journey, I will have to try stippling next. What book did you use for your reference?
@myartcube

The Book I referenced for this particular piece was Titled "Impressionism" by Karin H. Grimme. I added this reference to the description section of the video as well. You can also find images of these paintings online as well. Don't forget to check your local library for this or similar books before you spend your hard earned cash. Libraries have saved me a bundle over the last year. The original artist was Paul Signac. :) I hope this helps and congrats on starting your oil pastel journey! I'm excited for you. Best Wishes, Natalie

I have some monte marte soft pastels but thinking about getting into oil pastels as I don’t like the dust 😢. Is there a water soluble pastel you suggest? Also how do you store your pastels? I see some people have trays for them ? Thanks 😊

I'm not that familiar with water soluble pastels but if you are looking for a water soluble crayon perhaps the Neocolor II's by Caran D'ache or Sargent art water soluble crayons. Again I don't have any experience with water soluble oil pastels so I cannot speak to that. And yes the dust and chalky texture and feel of soft pastels can be a deal breaker for many artists. I'm personally not a fan of soft pastels and have only tried them a few times and didn't take to them. Thank you for visiting and I hope I was of some help. :)
