I love the dramatic music that accompanied the montage. The soviets really were such a force and I don't think we will ever see that dominance again. They were so exciting with their innovative skills, really edge of the seat stuff. I don't really enjoy watching gymnastics much nowadays, since about 2000 really. There is the odd gymnast that excites me but on the whole I could watch the old soviets, Romanians etc on and on and not get bored at all

The last question what could have happened in 1984 LA Olympics: The Soviets would have defeated the US and Western countries easily. The only country that could threaten their super status was Romania, another socialist country closely followed by East Germany! The West and China have had no chance competing against the Mighty Soviet Team, period!

What would have happened if she had been in LA? Simple...there would have been no Mary Lou Retton. Sad to say. Soviets had a very strong team in 84’.

What would’ve happened in the 1984 olympics? We would’ve been sparred Mary Lou Retton and those monsters Karolyis. And no Karolyis no Larry Nassar. Thank you for including Muhkina in this montage. She was a victim of the communist party and as soon as she was hurt after being forced to come back too early from injury to do that salto exercise, she was thrown away from the Russians like trash. Makes one wonder what is the point of this “sport”
