This is such an incredible idea to truly see what someone thinks of them without being biased! The entire community will need you to do this for Tom Ford Plum Japonais clones/dupes since it's been discontinued and is DIVINE especially for winter time. Montagne, Alexandria, Dua and Athena Fragrances (Smoky Plum) are all supposed to have 1:1 clones.

It was a lot of fun. I would definitely repeat the concept periodically the wall I hit is in locating samples since I don’t take free bottles and don’t want to buy a bunch it kinda complicates things. I’m gonna look around but if anyone reads this and has a solution message me! I really feel more reviewers should do this tho. I had a VERY different impression when I could tell which was which. So much of it happens in our heads and just the mindset of ‘the original is better’ totally jacked up my judgement.

@CgScents You could set up a PO box! Viewers could mail you decants to try! So you won't have to buy actual bottles and clutter your home, neither will you be accepting bottles from companies since you'd know if it was sent by a person or a company.

Friend has a great nose for fragrance! Nothing like spraying Torino21 OG on a sweltering hot day. Like someone just served you a sparkling mojito & you can smell the fresh mint and citrus that was just crushed but also basil. What a masterpiece & beautiful bottle to pick up & spray. I like this video because I only use clones on my clothes & OG on my skin. Smart to have it dry down on paper in advance.

Thanks man this provides value. I’ve been on the fence on picking up some montagne’s been to their website a few times but their samples are usually sold out which is a shame since I can’t test. Might take a risk and pick something up. The clone house I usually go for is Alexandria and they are great but it’s hit or miss. As an example their Torino 21 dupe is identical but their gentle fluidity dupe isn’t. Thanks again.

I think Gentle Silver is really good followed by Imaginary. I got both of those. Gentle silver is a bit more versatile I feel it can be worn in cooler weather easier I also get better performance. Imaginary smells awesome tho.

Just adding 2c of feedback--I think it would've been great to have a small segment at the end giving us your overall thoughts and summing up the experiment. Like, what did you get out of it, did anything surprise you, are there certain things that Montagne tend to miss from the originals, are there any that you smelled again after everything and had different thoughts about, maybe just a tally of how many each person guessed correctly and how close y'all thought they were... those kindsa things. For such a well-done, long video, it kinda drops off at the end.

I loved this format. Have you tried Gustavo from them? It is supposed to be a clone of Ormonde Jayme Montabaco (the OG one). I do not own the original and never had the opportunity to smell it either. However, I loved Gustavo for what it was, one of my favorite scents.

I have 6 or 7 Montagne fragrances. They kill the LVs. They are all spot on. Their Herod clone is one of the best I've ever had.

What's better in your opinion then if you say it's overhyped, yet their clones are 1:1 with way more expensive juices. Even in this video the testers are familiair with the most expensive and sophisticated perfumes and they are impressed with the Montagne quality I have been trying different clone houses and none is coming close to Montagne when it comes to quality.

@@YUNGYANG. I own 2 montagne dupes of fragrances I already own and they smell markedly shittier than the real thing. Torino 21, and Reflection Man. Reflection man from discounters, per ML, is only about double the price of the Montagne counter part and Id much rather just spend my money on the real thing. They're fine clones, In my experience they are absolutely not 1:1, but I haven't smelled them all. if they work for you, they work for you.

I haven’t tried the Reflection but the Torino 21 was one of the few we all got right. To me, it’s totally lacking the green elements and doesn’t smell as natural or deep. That one and monkey special were the worst that we tried. The only Montagne Xerjoff that was close was Torino 22.

I agree too the only 1:1 for me were the angels share, Ani, GOF, and gentle silver the rest felt like flankers like EDT vs EDP but oddly I preferred the Montagne on quite a few of them lol. I could tell the difference but it wasn’t inherently bad. It seems sensitivity to nuances like that is subjective as well. My friend is like a Doberman, my wife wasn’t as sensitive, I’m somewhere in the middle. It’s weirdly brand specific they really don’t nail Xerjoff or PDM that well. The divide seemed greater anytime I tested their interpretation of those.

@@CgScents How long did you let the Montagnes macerate? They are fresh made and change within time. Just curious, not saying it will affect the comparison by a lot, although many people seem to think so.
