I only lived in Butte for about six months but I found it to be the friendliest place I ever lived. I also met a Butte girl who continues to hold a piece of my heart many years later. I've often said that even though I've lived all over the US, those months in Butte were the happiest times of my life.

It’s funny as a kid I thought Evel was all that. After moving to butte it seems a lot of locals do not share the admiration that others have. It’s pretty interesting getting both points of view on the man.

That's interesting. I do know he caused a lot of trouble in town before he became famous.

Greetings from Poland. I was in Butte in 2023. I ate homemade Pasties and heard a story that miners took them to work. When you are in Europe, I invite you to visit Krakow. The famous Wieliczka salt mine is nearby. You can also visit Aushwitz.

Would you move to Butte? I need to find a place to live and Butte is cheap and has availability but I hear crystal meth and crime is popular there.
@itsaboutthetravel2 жыл бұрын
You know, I literally spent a day there. The downtown was nice, but I didn't travel much past that. Maybe one of the other commenters who lives there could give a better answer.

shepards pie i believe
@mikephotos2257 ай бұрын
Shepherd's pie is typically made with lamb or mutton while the pasty traditionally contains beef. Also the shepherd's pie looks more like a traditional pie but with a mashed potato crust while the pasty is a baked in a folded crust. The pasty was a favorite with miners, both in Cornwall where it originated, and in Butte because it could be eaten with the hands. Most pasties that I've seen had a crimped crust that served as sort of a handle so the miner could eat the pie while holding the crust edge with his dirty hands and then just throw the crust edge away.
