@LoomisPowderdogs Thanks. I actually had to use less photos in my star trail because there were too many stars in the images!

Sick video! What were your settings for the star trails?
@AndrewSebrell10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I kept the aperture wide open, f/2.8, and tried to keep the shutter at 30 seconds. I only adjusted the shutter speed a few times to accommodate for the rising or setting moon which lit up the house. I didn't mind the mountains being silhouetted so I didn't use a shutter speed higher than 30 seconds.

Very nice rendering. What camera/lens combo and software?
@AndrewSebrell9 жыл бұрын
+RT66TBIRD Thanks, Mainly a Canon 7D with a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens. I used Star Stax for the star trails and FCP X for editing.

I am still using a Nikon D90 from 2009 which makes it an antique by today's standards, I love it but now see its limitations. I think about making the switch to Canon for my next camera. It seems like more pros use them, but I don't know. I've been a Nikon guy since my FE2 circa 1983. I'm interested in the Nikon D750 which is full frame and has better low light sensitivity. What do you like about Canon?

+RT66TBIRD It's probably best to stick with Nikon if that's what you have. Plenty of pros use Nikon equipment. You can always adapt good old lenses to newer bodies. I like the functionality and ergonomics with Canon, and I also thought the white balance etc was more accurate to what I was seeing with my eye.
