Any reason you dont walk in further with the weighters ? is it bc the small rocks out here ? And do you need a beach pass to get on the water where you are
@jeffnaval48947 ай бұрын
You need 4x4 long island beach pass when you go northern montauk side.
@GetReelBassFishing7 ай бұрын
Didn’t have to walk in too far. The fish were well within casting range. If they were farther then the cast from shore, I’d be in the water more. It gets annoying getting bounced around in the waves for no reason. And yeah, you need the State 4x4 permit to drive on that part of the beach.

Nice Paulie, I would have taken a long hike down the SS Rocks if you wanted Stripers. Cool to see the Blues are where they should be. Tight Lines!

I was skunked for 2 straight weeks. Absolutely nothing. It wasn't until yesterday I went out east (a not so secret spot) and was slamming gator bluefish lol. Caught a blue today as well from the surf. Other than that, been a super slow and weird season for sure man.

Understandable. Yeah, it’s been super slow. It’s for sure a weird year. But I’m glad you got on some blues, especially one from the surf!

Hi, my friends and I are going out to Montauk next week for a fishing trip and I had a few questions. Which is better for catching larger species of fish, the incoming tide or the outgoing tide? Is the north shore (bay side) or south shore (ocean side) more ideal for surfcasting with lures and bait? Which lures/jigs would you recommend (Im planning on using topwater poppers, diamond jig and bucktail)? Thanks
@mmercadante10156 ай бұрын
Do u need to air down at that spot or is it just mostly rocky?
@GetReelBassFishing6 ай бұрын
Nah, it’s mainly all rock.

Back in the 80's I fished a tiny trout stream that only 2 or 3 of guys fished during the coldest days of winter. It produced for me a 4 lb Brown, a 3 lb Rainbow and countless Native Brookies. All on a simple spinning set up with meal worms and split shot. No clearance for fly fishing. I told one guy at work and the very next weekend he was there with 5 of his buddies just pounding the place. That's when I learned my lesson. That's why I can laugh at what others perceive as a spot burn. Best to you with the little one on the way
