Interesting excursion for history buffs among the galleries and memories of Cesare Battisti.
Monte Corno Battisti is a peak of the Pasubio massif (Vicentine Prealps) and was the scene of bloody battles during the First World War. It was here, on 10 July 1916, that Cesare Battisti and Fabio Filzi were captured. In their memory the name of the mountain was changed: from Monte Corno di Vallarsa it became Monte Corno Battisti. At the top of the mountain you can visit the remains of the fortifications / galleries.
The hike is quite demanding, because the outward and return paths are very steep and there is a significant difference in height.
ITINERARY
From the car park in Tezze (667 m), follow the signpost 122b and go up a paved road for about 800 m and you will come to a fork. Turn right and follow path 122A. Once in Sella di Trappola (1434 m), continue left on path 122C and in a short time you will arrive at the start of the Franco Galli aided path. Just above, the tunnels dating back to the First World War begin. Once in Bocca del Leone you enter the complex of tunnels of Monte Corno Battisti visiting: the Barrage Gallery, the Medication Post and the Pulley Well. Once out, continue arriving at the top of Monte Corno Battisti (1778 m). Now following the signpost 122 you reach the Selletta Battisti (1725 m) and then along the path 119b you reach the Valico del Menderle (1679 m). Here you go down a very steep path, the 123, returning to the starting point.
