Monte cristo sandwich is an old school sandwich. Never seen it made any more in restaurants, ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich dipped in an egg batter then fried. It is supposed to be sweet and savory.

It's been years since I had a Monte Cristo sandwich and I think it was at Disneyland's Blue Bayou restaurant.🤔 Anyway, not many places serve that sandwich, but then a lot of old school sandwiches have gone off menus. I think I'll ask for a fried bologna sandwich if I go there.🤣

Hey Danny, The Monte Cristo is a rare sandwich and that one looked very nice. Sometimes it’s strawberry preserves on the side. Yes three tastes at once. Salty, savory and sweet. Have you ever put salt on a melon? It can intensify the sweet. That’s why you find salt on the ingredients list of dessert items. Just a little, not over salted. What about always have a couple of Lactaids in your wallet? Either the individually wrapped ones or loose ones in a little aluminum foil. If you forget to carry some in the normal way, a failsafe. Also leave some in the car. Inner flap of the cap? 😊 Great video! Joe

Emerald Isle is one of our favorites and the 1st place we go to have breakfast after arriving in LAS. We haven't yet tried the Rainbow next door (even after all of these years) but plan on doing so in April. Thanks Danny!

Monte Cristo is a unique combination of a ham and cheese sandwich wrapped inside a beignet if done properly, Extra points for deep frying the sandwich with powdered sugar. The jam elevates it to a dessert item. This place also has great midnight specials.

Yes Danny a good Monte Cristo sandwich is always deep fried. I worked in a place when I was young as a cook We sold so many of those sandwiches it was unbelievable. They made them on Texas toast where I worked as a line cook. They were literally two to three inches thick. I find it weird that places put this as a breakfast item cuz it's not a breakfast side and it's a lunch item for sure, and dinner.

Ah, sorry, but you got the poor man's Monte Cristo! Meat and cheese between two slices of French Toast. Powdered sugar. 😂 Good....... until you try it done properly! 😂 Battered and deep fried! Then the cheese inside is so melty and gooey, it soars! The Monte Cristo--if you can't feel your arteries clanging shut while you're eating, it hasn't been done right! 😂 Cheers!

The coffee shop at the Desert Inn used to serve a spectacular Monte Cristo. First one I ever had. I measure all others by that one. Haven't found one as good since. That one actually looks pretty good. The thinly sliced ham is the key, IMO.

First Monte Cristo? It's usually pan fried like French Toast though sometimes deep fried. Always comes with some sort of fruit jam for the sandwich.

DtM, great choice, one of my favorite sandwiches, if done well. This one looked pretty good, but not sure if yellow cheese is authentic. The raspberry sauce/jam is a must. Deep fried yummy-ness. Mmmm Karla in Cali.

Danny forgot the tap water. I never try the Monte Cristo sandwich before, would give it a try next time. I'm also Lactose intolerant as an Asian myself but after consuming them for so long my body kinda adapted those things.

By the way, I always say to a server (and tip them if they come through!) to bring my dinner as soon as it comes out as French Fries if cold or mearly warm are terrible… YES and a Monte Cristo has a French toast bread.
