I too was getting worried about where you were, Ashley! Such great ideas here! 3 part cards are such a helpful resource, it's important to remember to keep it fun! 🥰 I made our familiar faces cards as control cards in both Russian and Korean, and we have been using them on their own for now for the 2 period lesson and also matching! It's almost impossible to find materials in both of those languages so a lot of DIY 3 part cards on this end in the future 🙈

As the little has burst into writing the last month or so, he has actually been copying out word labels and then trying to find the pictures to match to his writing :) [all his own idea] I don’t know if it is a difference in formal training but when I took my Montessori certificates they specifically told us that the control card was not a flashcard and to use just the picture cards when introducing vocabulary and when language learning - they told us the labels are added later as the child advances to reading a few letter sounds :) Probably just a difference in how the method is taught :), personally, I try to introduce picture cards first but I’m not against using flashcards in our homeschool either :)

My issue that I keep facing with three part cards is that my 4.5 year will do the three period lesson with me with three or four as an introduction, but her interests change within a couple of days and we never end up getting to all of the three-part cards before she has schemas showing me a different theme needs to be addressed. Some of these three-part card files that I found have dozens and dozens of items of nomenclature.
