It's really nice watching your videos, but everytime I feel a bit incompetent myself and I get curious how you can cope with the tempo of having two kids and doing the house works and your videos. We have one baby and I already feel overly tired. How do you handle everthing? Is it that you are more experienced mom with the second baby, or your husband or someone from family helping out? I will be thankful if you can fill in some gaps for me.

I’m so sorry, I certainly don’t mean to make anyone feel that way. 😞 My goal is simply to share my passion and information about Montessori parenting with all of you. :) I’m pretty certain that my days and parenting experiences are just like everyone else’s, complete with all of the overtired, coffee-fueled mornings and moments that make me want to tear my hair out. 😂 No one is a perfect parent, and that’s okay. 💕 I do all of my KZbin work at night, after the girls have gone to bed. Which translates to a lot of really late nights for me, while still having all of the early mornings like everyone else. I guess I’ve just learned to function on less sleep, but otherwise, things are pretty much the same in our home. It’s funny that you ask about having someone to help, because it’s literally just us out here. All of our family and friends live out of state. My husband is able to help out with small things like walking the dogs, or one or two nights of the week he’ll cook dinner… But for the most part, it’s a one-woman show over here, with me doing most of the work throughout the day (at least as far as the kids and housework are concerned). Trust me when I say that it’s not easy, and there have been many nights that I have thought seriously about throwing in the towel… but to know that I’m having a positive impact on so many other families around the world keeps me going. :) Thanks so much for your support!

@@HapaFamily Thanks for taking the time to reply. I think it is very important you are showing us your respectful and patient approach to parenting. Raising a kid this way is very important for the society believe me. Parents usually are unaware they are harming their kids trying to teach them something via criticizing, disapproving, blaming rather than accepting them as they are and teaching them how to achieve better behavior or morals. This is usually because the better way of teaching things is not generally known to us. Too much criticized and restricted kids start to loose their self confidence and start feeling there is something wrong with them. Research shows this slows their brain development and when they grow up they become angry, unhappy and disappointed individuals. You seem to very well understand the world from the perspective of a child and are able to give them what they need in a respectful manner. It is also great how you give them responsibilities and make them feel an important part of the family. About the amount of work I am trying to cope, when I see you it makes me want to do better and in time I find ways to deal with things. It may be an inspiration or through popping up of an idea in my mind both are triggered by watching and seeing different things. I like the positive effect overall. Maybe one thing you may consider could be also showing some of the challenges you have thus taking our experience to another level. Hope it helps 😊.

Yes, the sensitive period for babies for language development is spot on & my wife had the idea of one parent one language. My wife speaks Tagalog and I speak English to our baby. My daughter picked up Tagalog so fast. I was so surprised by how much she absorbed

I stumbled over your videos just yesterday and I am really interested in the montessori way. I will definitely buy me a book to read through and try to get some structures of it in our daily routines and life. As to the things you say in this video, I see how I subconsciously just started to read and talk and sing to my son right from the moment he was born (at least every time I was with him, he was almost 12 weeks early so I haven't been with him alle the time during his first month and a half) and although he was this early he started babbling things I said at about 8 months. He loves us to read books to him, sometimes when I let him play alone he'll just take his favourite stories and "reads" them by memory. He even corrects me if I read something wrong :) Sometimes when I'm reading I'll just point to him at one part and he'll finish the line. It's so awesome.. He memorizes songs and stories he likes really fast. I can't even count how many stories and songs he is telling or singing! He is now 3 years and 2 months old. :)

I am having trouble with something similar. We have cats who are extraordinarily tolerant, and my 2.5yr toddler now has started not respecting their naps, eating time etc.. and plays a little rough, plucking whiskers, touching their noses a lot etc. My angelic cats don't hiss or swat or show her that it is not ok.. they just run away or slowly get out of her grip! Positive disciplining has not been working lately, toddler thinks it's all very funny. I am hoping this is just a phase! I have a niece who is awful to animals because my BIL and SIL just consider them as entertainment for her. I have been stressed and anxious to NOT let my daughter become like that! Don't know if anyone has any tips for this.. but if anyone does - would highly appreciate it.

Very sad, that the sandpaper books aren't available in german- I couldn't find something similar. Does the number thing includes numbers 0 to 10 or even higher? My daughter (almost 2) loves a KZbin channel that has children songs. While we are in the kitchen we sing them and she tells me, wich one is next. She is very good in talking yet and I'm very proud of her and wen can communicate in a good way. Thanks for your video!!!

Hi there! Thanks for the video, very informative. I would like to point out though that according to Montessori original texts the sensitive periods are language, refinement of the senses, movement, order, small objects and social aspects of life. Everything you said makes a lot of sense according to the philosophy (and I do agree with what you said) but there are no potty training, emotional control, vocabulary and reading and writing sensitive periods mentioned in the original texts (I never came across them and was not taught about them during my Montessori teaching course). It will not make much difference to parents what was originally said by Montessori or not but I thought you would like to know. I really like your videos and thanks for helping parents around the world to adopt a more respectful relationship with their children!

Very interesting! The periods that I came across in my research were discussed by a MACTE accredited training program, and were reflected in a few other sources I have read in the past. When I have kids I want to let them use imagination play, but I agree with everything else in Montessori. How would this transfer over if they go to a Montessori school? I feel like it would be confusing for a child if imagination was only allowed at home. Any thoughts?

The concept of imagination is quite prevalent in Montessori school. There are the Great Stories, for example, which ask a child to imagine the scientific creation of the world, etc. Also, in many presentations, we Montessori directors ask a child often to imagine something. You may have missed a sensitive period, but every child is different. Remember, even outside a sensitive period, a child can learn something; it's just easier to do in the sensitive period because that's when they are keenly interested and absorbed in this topic. Signs to look for if your child is in a sensitive period for toilet use would be them following you and your partner into the bathroom, an interest in their genitalia, interest in pulling their own pants up/down and dressing themselves in general. Also, some children get to a point where they decidedly dislike the feeling of being wet or dirty. If these don't sound like behaviours your child has exhibited, then she may not have gone through this sensitive period yet. If you remember some of these things happening, then you may have missed it. But that's fine! You two may just need to work a little harder to get it done. Good luck!

There’s a common misconception that it’s easier for children to learn languages than an adult’s. That’s actually not true! There have been several studies that have found children pick up native accents a lot easier than adults, but the ability to pick up and understand different languages is no different than an adult’s, and in a lot of cases since adults have knowledge of another language to use as an example while they’re learning, they actually have an easier time picking up the new language than a child who is struggling to understand their own native language still. Loved this info on sensitive periods but wanted to clarify this point a little :)

This is interesting and contrary to what I have always heard and believed till now. I myself moved around quite a bit and had to learn different languages throughout my life. I speak 3 fluently (can read and write 3 scripts).. I have studied 3 more.. and have had to function in an environment of 2 other languages. And found that I got conversational in languages much faster in my younger years than the later ones. Can you point me to some of the studies you mentioned? I am curious.
