Montessori Three Period Lesson

The three period lesson is great for introducing all sorts of vocabulary - letter sounds, differentiation of objects, descriptive/sensory based language (small/larger/largest, thin/thick, colors, patterns, texture), numbers & quantities, second language. It consists of three parts: 1- naming, where you are giving the names of the given objects (or the sounds in the case of letters); 2 - practice, where you can play all sorts of games (include movement too) to help your child learn the names or sounds your introducing; and 3 - recall, where you are checking or assessing your child's knowledge. Your child may or may not remember all the names/sounds you’re introduced during the last and third part (when you’re checking if they remember). If they don’t, make note to review these names/sounds again during another lesson.
