Great video! It's nice to see that in the Philippines a family can still operate a piggery. In Canada here not many smaller farms have piggerys anymore. Most farms are done on a large scale and they are mostly owned by large companies

Maayong Buntag Guys, Good analysis on monthly expenses. ;-) I wished that you break it down to individual cost like you sold 2/3 pigs for PHP 24k? What were the cost/expenses (housing, feed, maintenance etc.) for each pig? Value - Cost = Revenue/Percent. Just curious...
@LawrenceBroussard5 жыл бұрын
You'll had me laughing with I cannot read her writing, and the pillow. Thanks for the update up the cost of you'll piggery. Curious since there a lot of local rice produces if rice bran is available as a very low cost feed for your soon feeder pigs and a added feed in your regular feed mix.

Great video! I have found my beautiful future wife in Canlaon. She loves to raise pigs, and would love to make a living from it. So your video is very helpful. Gives me a very general idea of the cost of caring for many pigs. I am also curious about how much monthly revenue is produced by your 90,000p monthly expense. I also want to say i really like how you and Maricel express love for each other! Pinays are so sweet!

Brian, negotiate a price based on your feed consumption and leverage the volume. The negotiation should build a long-term relationship with the dealer for a win-win situation and eliminate price fluctuations.

sure that is the way , have every expenditure writen down , just make sure you can have profit , or it will be you fettening pigs for no profits. i do not know much on pigs, but i think that having the feed from a company it might be the main food source, but shpould not be the only one, pigs can graze, or eat grass and other things to, it will give them some extra nutrients and might diminish your fgeedcost, you can give them the youngh banana trees to eat, nicelly choped, can plant sweet ptato , also some gabi, belive if you search on with the locals they will tell what else the pigs can eat, but if yiu get on the internet you will find in philip[pines there is plente extra plants to feed your pigs to..

Hi Brian and Marcel, very informative as usual and lovely the double act. This is a bit of a curve ball question but, would you happen to know how much goats cost? I have been offered 5 (3 male, 2 females) for php 20k. Not sure if there is any profit either but they might be useful for keeping the jungle at bay and clearing dropped fruit. Keep up the good work, you're both an inspiration.
@aforeignerfarminginthephil33745 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the breed and the age and weight. Not a good price, but not absolutely terrible either...offer 15k and meet at a lower price..
@zeineguy5 жыл бұрын
It will be a long term loss until you start to see a profit. Hope you are prepared. I am wondering if you are interested in doing a test, Brian. Take 6 pigs the same size, divide into 2 pens. One pen, you feed regular as you are now. And the other pen, you put a self feeder in it. They are built to hold feed, and allow the pigs to eat when they want to. I did this with my pigs when I saw they were growing slowly. When you feed the pigs regular, they seem to go crazy and the dominant ones get more feed. But when there is always feed there, they will eat when they are hungry. No rush to be first or eat as much as you can before it is gone. I find less to clean after awhile too.
@aforeignerfarminginthephil33745 жыл бұрын
What did you notice in feed conversion and overall feed cost?
@zeineguy5 жыл бұрын
@@aforeignerfarminginthephil3374 once the pigs are aware there is feed there all the time, it works out better, as they don't fight over feed, waste feed or over eat, I made my own feeder out if wood instead of buying a premade metal one. It lasted about 3 months before they started eating it. Lol. But they could eat anytime, even at night if hungry. I thought they also gained weight better.

Man if you think you are going to get rich having a business in the Philippines you are dreaming unless you have a lot of capital to through into it. And i dont think brian is doing it to become rich. I think he is doing it because he loves that sort life style and has grown up on farms. And like every thing we do in life its trial and error till we find out want workes for us and for our needs and happiness . So i give my hat off to you brian and Marecil you are giving it a go and living your dream . And i can't wait to see how it all turns out for you both and wish you all the best. Wow Brian, thats a lot of money to shell out every month, and it will just get bigger as U grow in size. Please listen to me, TAHOP is a by product of rice after the milling, research has p-layed it is very nutritional for pigs, mix it with water and make a slur out of it and supplement it into that pig feed 1/4 tahop 3/4 pig feed, U will save much money on Ur feed bill a month. Tahop is cheap if U buy it buy the sack, it sells here in our area for 19 peso for 1 kg, U can save at least 13,000 or more peso a month with a quick change,. it all addes up!!! They sell it all over the Philippines, because thats what locals feed their stock, if not tahop, pollard, its a little more pricey, not much more!! When U add water to it, it expands like fermenting grain, it fills them up and makes there food easier to digest do to the water content, very healthy. By the way, using rice hauls in the stalls will be an Angel for U in the long run, just trying to help cut the cost and i C it in Ur face!!! Thanks for letting me exspess the topic, no offense in any way PLEASE.
@aforeignerfarminginthephil33745 жыл бұрын
Thanks James we'll look around. The biggest reason why the feed is so expensive is because we are having to buy it by the sack instead of by the ton. Still looking for bulk delivery..no luck yet.

Assuming 100k in cost per month over three months at 60 pigs. That leaves you jist over 12k USD net profit for pig fattening at 120kg per pig at 135php per kilo. This does not include the cost of pig purchase.
@aforeignerfarminginthephil33745 жыл бұрын
That would be about right if they were all fattening pigs, but most are gilts and sows, so for the next 3+ months the money will all be going out and very little coming in👍
@Renaissanceman865 жыл бұрын
@@aforeignerfarminginthephil3374 assuming ur doing just piglet rearing I think it's closer to 1.2 million php per month. There is more money in the long run for piglet raising at (3,500 php selling) per head vs fattening. Though the real money is in the butchering.
