The story goes that when Gagiva bought Husqvarna, some of the mechanics didn't want to move from Sweden to Italy, so they stayed and started the Husaberg. Husqvarna means house in the valley, while Husaberg means house on the mountain. Because of the Swedes everybody turned to the 4T for MX. In the 80s they couldn't believe that a 4T can be competitive to the 2T. Husqvarna with Jacky Martens proved them wrong... and after that, everybody turned to the 4T. KTM bought Husaberg just to kill it. I was racing Supermoto back in the days. With FS400 (2001).

True except KTM didn't buy them just to kill them, they bought it because of the head technology and because Husaberg was cash poor. The Husaberg engineers learned their lesson from Cagiva and demanded a 25 year contract from KTM as part of the acquisition. Sure, once KTM acquired the Husaberg head (thanks Folan) and built the RFS motor, they treated Husaberg rather poorly. Still, Husaberg would have died without KTM, so it's sort of a love hate relationship. Once Gustafson died, Husaberg became yellow and white KTMs. Gone yes, but glad they lasted as long as they did. Pure performance!

Nice video. I´m not owner of husaberg, but my frined is, and the fe 550 is same strong as the moder bikes (like my hsq 501 2015) its shame for KTM they can´t make same powerfull bike for about 7 years. I´m really sad about the KTM put down this brand. Those bike have heart...

It's a really beautiful bike indeed. I happened to own now a beast myself from 2004. A KTM 525sx. Brutal force to the ground with torque and overall great power through the powerband. 54 RWhp. 4 speed transmission. 11.0 compression. 106 Kg dry. But i've also owned a 2002 Yamaha yz426f. Not as much torque and brute power as the 525sx, But it revs higher and pulls more on the high end powerband. 47 RWhp. 5 speed transmission. 12.0 compression. 108 Kg dry. And ofc i've owned a 2 stroke aswell. A 1994 Honda CR250r. As usual Honda is not a torque monster, But instead focuse on mid to high end power. A real snappy motocross bike i must say. 43 RWhp. 5 speed transmission. 8.5 compression. 98 Kg dry.

I currently have a 2004 husaberg fe450e, the enduro model of this. It looks identical except it has lights and a trip computer. I am the original owner and im only on the second set of tires, yes it has very low hours. I love this bike and plan to keep it forever. Even at 61 yrs old i love to ride offroad !\

Nice video, I love Husaberg! Theres a reason WP changed their name though, you should probably go with the new version.

£5800 maybe a decent investment for somebody that has the cash and can keep it for about 50 years to get a return on their investment 😂

KTM bought over Husaberg in 1995 although they still produced Husaberg bikes under the Husaberg name until they stopped making Husaberg machines in 2014. I thought I had mentioned that in the video?
