I grow up in Montopolis in the early 60s and 70s and now at 65yrs I'm retired and still live in the Montopolis area and have seen all my friends and neighbors get gernified out of our neighborhood which is so sad because we made this area. RIP Shorty from LA Familia Rodriguez y Veloz. 🙏

This is a film produced by People's History in Texas. The ending credits have been cut out. People's History in Texas has other programs which you can view on their channel.

The credits were not edited out. This is a direct transfer of the original videotape on file at the Austin Public Library obtained from the late Stephanie Neely, Chief Librarian at the Dan Ruiz branch. We also have the production notes, including Melissa Hield's application for city funding and Juanita Garcia Tijerina's 2011 gift of documents relating to the San Jose Cemetery to the City of Austin. If you have a copy of the video that includes the credits, please feel free to upload it and we will link to it. As you can see in the description above, People's History in Texas was properly credited when this video was first uploaded.

My family church ( the holy temple) was on Kemp st. so every weekend we was in the area. Glad to see this because learning about my city's history is important to me, especially with gentrification going on everything is changing smh.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere east of IH35. Montopolis was a great place to live 50 years ago.

Why?
@howellwong113 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyp7707 For one thing, the poorer area is east of I35 and the second thing is that Texas students were living all along Riverside 50 years ago.

50 years ago our grandparents took pride in our neighborhood and kept up their little homes. Being poor or lower middle class was no excuse to be lazy or dirty.
