Dimanche 16 mai, une manifestation pro-Israël a débuté aux alentours de 13h au Dorchester Square. Les esprits se sont vite échauffés dû à l'arrivé soudaine des manifestant pro-Palestiniens. Les équipes du Groupe d'Intervention (GI) du Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) ont été appelés en renfort afin de disperser les manifestants grâce a de nombreux gaz lacrymogènes tirés. Plusieurs groupes se sont formés puis se sont emparés de la rue Sainte-Catherine au centre-ville de Montréal. Selon la porte-parole du SPVM, une quinzaines d'arrestations ont été effectués et 76 constats d'infractions ont été remis. Trois policiers ainsi qu'un civil ont été blessés lors de cet échauffourée.
On Sunday May 16, a pro-Israel protest began around 1 p.m. at Dorchester Square. The spirits quickly heated due to the sudden arrival of the pro-Palestinian demonstrators. The teams of the Intervention Group (GI) of the Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM) were called in to help disperse the demonstrators thanks to numerous tear gas fired. Several groups were formed and then seized Sainte-Catherine Street in downtown Montreal. According to the spokesperson for the SPVM, fifteen arrests were made and 76 statements of offenses were submitted. Three police officers as well as a civilian were injured during this clash.
