I'm from Louisiana, a "hockey-less" place, but I fell in love with the NHL at 13 years old because of the '93 playoffs. I was rooting for the Kings--Gretzky was the only player I knew of at the time--but I'll never forget watching Leclair win those two games in overtime. The games were so great that I was actually sad to see anyone win. After that, hockey was all I could think about. Ah, memories.

I think the most important aspect of that team and especially the overtime record was the psychology of believing in one's self and having confidence. Jacques Demers was the kind of coach who supported his players and motivated them by showing confidence in EACH of them. This team needed contributions from everyone up and down the lineup, players like Ed Ronan, Paul DiPietro, Donald Dufresne and others. He made those guys feel like a big part of the team and I believe that is what made them special.

Kid, I'm a Habs fan and I remember the Summit Series, the first Canada Cup, and the Montreal Canadiens disco-era dynasty all first-hand. I also listened to the Canadiens' games on the French radio station...and that was when I hardly even SPOKE French. We are proud of our winning tradition and rightly so, and nothing you can do or say can change that marvellous history. Just remember: "To you from failing hands we throw the torch. Be yours to hold it high."

This was not only the last Canadian team to win, but it was the last team to only have North American's playing on it as well. Ever since Gary Betman was Commissioner for the last 21 years its been a dark road for Canada. I mean the only thing we have for memories in the past 20 years is the Olympics, an that only happens every 4 years. It's a shame.

Dude was it 100% all Canadians and Amercians? and besides that's Boston, and who cares about L.A thats not really a hockey town. It was only recently those teams are relevant. I'm talking about Canadian teams not American teams.
@boskey1010 жыл бұрын
Well they play with a lot more heart and determination. Also they play as unit, win as a team and lose as a team, Europeans only care about stats. That's just what i see. Oh by the way Kjellberg only appeared in 7 games that season so he was never part of that championship team and Oleg Petrov, He won a Stanley Cup in 1993 with the Montreal Canadiens. However, he did not play enough games to officially qualify, so his name was not put on the Stanley Cup either. Like i said The last team to ice North Amercians to win a cup.

EXACTLY! You hit the nail on the head when describing the Kings of 2012. As I was watching the Kings facing both the Blues and Coyotes, the one thing I noticed was the Kings constant checking in the Neutral Zone. Neither St. Louis or Phoenix could not penetrate into the Kings Zone. And if the did, either the Kings were either in a Penalty, or the Blues or Coyotes just got desperate.

A few times throughout the video, shots of the Montreal bench at the Forum are shown. Was it seriously possible to walk down all the way to the bench if you were in the stands? 2. Anybody know the title of the music from 3:40 until the end? Thanks.
