Built in 1871, the Grey Nuns Motherhouse in downtown Montreal has become infamous over the years for its bizarre and macabre history. The most tragic moment came on Valentine's Day 1918 when a fire broke out in the orphanage and claimed the lives of 53 children. There are also nearly 300 bodies buried in the basement crypt and it has been said the ghosts of the past haunt the building.
In 2007, Concordia University bought the building and converted it into a residence. Since then, some students have mentioned experiencing bizarre visions, noises and dreams about the fire, including hearing the chants and screams of children on certain floors and in one particularly terrifying case, constant nightmares of burnt children that caused one student to move out of the building entirely.

I used to work there as cook. Our main kitchen was amazing. Ceiling was about 30 foot high. It was quite creepy especially when you are working there all by yourself early in the morning (4 am). Always felt someone watching me. Good video.

Tourists and visitors to the city can rent the college accommodation during college vacations. I stayed there for a few nights when visiting Montreal in 2011. Saw no ghosts but I remember it as a lovely old building and a good value place to stay.

My 6th-great-grandfather, Pierre Leboeuf, is buried in the crypt, and my 6th-great-grandmother was the first person the Grey Nuns helped.

I've stayed there ... Never heard anything. Also, lived in Montreal for 4 yrs of university, never had anything weird happen except my own depression. Only heard my own crying...
